Re: Proper Butter Puff Pastry?

Same problem here. I have not been able to find butter puff pastry in or around Zurich, so I am also interested to hear about brands/stores. I am afraid it doesn't exist here... which is quite surprising, considering the Swiss love for butter.

Re: Proper Butter Puff Pastry?

Puff pastry made w/ butter is nowhere to be found in regular grocery stores in Switzerland, BUT you can buy it in some bakeries if you dare asking :-) (maybe the more Mom and Pop type, I wouldn't ask in Sprüngli), I get mine in Bülach. Otherwise, the puff pastry you get in Germany, although also made w/ vegetable oil (aka palm oil, hence terrible for your arteries) does puff and taste a lot better than the Swiss one...

Re: Proper Butter Puff Pastry?

I just found some at Migros this week. I tried it out and it turned out pretty good. The flavour of butter does come through:

Far better than the others made with margerine...

Re: Proper Butter Puff Pastry?

Since we have so many croissant experts on this thread, please club together and start making some decent ones for me here in Zürich.

I'll pay top dollar :-)
