All-natural nut butter: Lausanne area?

Hi everyone,

I found all-natural (read: no sugar added) PB at an asian market but found the price high. In fact, I found everything in there to be pricey when I'm used to finding better deals at asian markets. But -- I digress!

Now, I know Coop sells regular ol' PB, but has anyone found all-natural nut butters at a fair price in/around Lausanne?
I also know that I could make some more than easily, but short of smashing the nuts with my single pot, I don't have the tools to do so. Oh glorious student life.

Any ideas?
Thanks for any help!

Alexia

Unfortunately I have no suggestions but am hoping to hear some answers! We import our Smuckers Natural Creamy when we return from visits to the US (or have visitors bring it as a 'housewarming' gift!).

Probably the best and cheapest way would be to make your own? Here's a recipe from my favorite website... the upside.. you can use whatever nut you want and whatever ingredients (salt, no salt... chunky, smooth) good luck

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely have to check the bio stores -- good call.
Will report back with my findings...

Re: All-natural nut butter: Lausanne area?

"Natural" and "No Added Sugar" are two different things.

Just a couple of things (I know that of which I speak)

1. Most peanut butters need to contain hydrogenated vegetable fat to prevent separation. If it isn't listed on obscure brands, it doesn't mean it isn't there!
2. Peanut butter carries risk of salmonella. Be careful when you buy from small obscure brands.

This is one product when I would trust the big brands, rather than assume that what is on the label of a new brand you find in your favourite corner store is necessarily correct

Re: All-natural nut butter: Lausanne area?

I'll admit I used "natural" and "no-sugar-added" indiscriminately in this situation, undoubtedly because I did not know that of which I spoke.

Upon reflection, I'll edit my words and stick with "no-sugar-added."
Thank you for your punctiliousness.

Alex

PS: no really, I wasn't being sarcastic.
