Suggestions for Fundue

I am not sure which is the place to go for tasting Fundue in Zurich. I would probably do so only once coz of the calories so dont want to experiment much.

I am not very fond of cheese and there is so much variety here. I actually did not like the taste of some cheese I have sampled so dont wanna get stuck with a dish with main ingredient as cheese and that too not to my taste!

Please help

For some, fondue is an acquired taste. I'ved started liking them on my third try.

Its not the traditional fondue, but meat fondues (cooking in oil) can be good.
And chocolate fondue always makes for a fun dessert...

Re: Suggestions for Fundue

You can buy microwaveable single-serving fondue in Migros/Coop (look for it next to the coffee creamer usually). Get a tub of that first and try it at home.

If you like it, or think you might grow to like it eventually, then worry about which restaurant to eat it in.

If you absolutely hate it, throw the plastic tub away - and congratulate yourself for wasting 3CHF and five minutes to find out, instead of 40CHF and a whole evening.

Re: Suggestions for Fundue

I've always made my own, starting several years before the first time I came here, though my current choice of cheeses and spices started back in '88 when I was invited to a friend's for dinner.

Anyway, find a cheese you like, and use that.

Re: Suggestions for Fundue

I went to a cheese and wine party once. It was a fundue.

Re: Suggestions for Fundue

Hi New_In_Zurich, there's this small and quaint fondue place near Stauffacher called Fribourger fonduestübli. Fondue is the only thing they serve. It's actually one of the best ones I've tried in the area.
