Pizza in Zug?

I used to live in Geneva and I am a huge fan of Da Paolo's! Anyone have any recommendations for excellent but casual pizza in Zug?

Thanks!

Re: Pizza in Zug?

I find the pizzas at restaurant San Marco really good (and an Italian friend confirmed to find the pizzas there the best in the neighbourhood).
Prices are reasonable, location is superb, especially in summer if you can sit outside right at the lakeside.

Address is Fischmarkt 2 in Zug.

I'd recommend Pizzeria Krone in Baar.

Would agree with all this but we avoid after a particularly bad experience service wise.

They were busy, we were shown (pointed to) a table with plates still on it, no problem, 15 minutes later no one clears the plates my wife goes and asks someone to clear the plates and can we get menu (It`s Sunday we realize they are going to close at this rate), 10 minutes later my wife physically take the plates to the kitchen, they appear upset at my wife I say we leave, wait 5 minutes (I want to leave immediately) and leave. Half an hour no service at all, not a menu and asked 3 times.

This place the pizza`s are at least as good if not better, 15 minutes drive from Zug but it doesn`t have the nice outside view of San Marco.

Re: Pizza in Zug?

My parents in the 1970ies often went to the two renowned FISH restaurants on the lakeshore in Zug. But stopped, when the service-level went down the drain. No idea how the situation in those places is now

Re: Pizza in Zug?

try pizzeria "La Campana" in Cham, Luzernerstrasse 19 - one minute from the train station.
Nice Pizzas, nice Italian dishes, home-style cooking. Prices are OK (well, in Swiss standards - still absurdly high, comparing to prices in Italy...)
Tends to be very busy at weekends.

Re: Pizza in Zug?

No no no! :-)
You go to Gemeindeplatz and just opposite the cages with birds there is this tiny pizzeria owned by hardworking Indian family. They are very nice and their pizza is good and not expensive. There are not many places to sit but you order takeaway (plus beer/wine to wash it down) and sit with it by the lake on a warm day. Best lunch/dinner ever and I don't have to cook... but I can only dream of it lately as I am on diet so no more pizza for me, 6 kgs must go.

San Marco is also good and the service is nice. Some people recommend Puccini http://www.puccini.ch/Puccini_Zug/Puccini_-_Home.html but I didn't like the atmosphere there and I don't think it offers better food than San Marco.

The Taverna need the metalli gets my vote for best pizzas in Zug.

Just thinking about them, I want one!

Re: Pizza in Zug?

I liked the pizzas at Academia in the Industriestrasse in Zug best (that is if one didn't mind the clientele from the building next door). It's a pity they closed a couple of years ago. I guess you can't run an Italian company on just three customers a day, regardless of the quality of your food. Just thinking about their delicious Pizza Margharita makes my mouth water.

Wow... That's really bad. I've been to San Marco quite a few times and to be honest I haven't always been that impressed with the quality of the service either, nothing compared to the experience you've described though. Nevertheless, the pizzas have been great every time.

And when it comes to take away pizza/pizza delivery, my favourite is http://www.dieci.ch/

This is a joke right?
It's better than a frozen Pizza but on the scale of 1-10 I'd rate it a 6 or a 7 on a very good day.

For something casual, just go to New York Pizza, their Margherita are very moreish! Must be something they put in the sauce or base! Bloody pricey though at CHF6.- a slice! (Big slice though)

San Marco is great in the summer, don't listen to all this rubbish about service. I went their a few times and no problems at all, Pizza rating is a little bit better than Taverna but not so much.

We have had a similar bad experience here which has put me off going there which is a shame as it is in a great location.

I thought there might be something wrong with my taste buds until you pointed out New York Pizza!

That stuff is utter crap

Re: Pizza in Zug?

Another vote for San Marco, or another favorite very near there is Platzmühle, where you can sit out on the plaza on a nice day.
