Backpulver aka baking powder is sodium hydrogen bicarbonate (aka Natronhydrogenbicarbonat aka Natron aka bicarb aka lots of names) plus something added, I forget what. Baking soda is just bicarb, they don't sell it in boxes in Switzerland but the stuff called Kaiser-Natron you can get in Germany is definitely what is known as baking soda. I use it as such and my cakes / cupcakes and things turn out pretty well. Cheapest place to get bicarb has been Italy, but maybe I just missed it elsewhere. There they sell it in big white cartons marked with "Solvay bicarbonato di sodio" in blue, praising its "thousands of uses" for about EUR 1.50? Might be a bit more or even less, no idea, it was so cheap that I didn't pay attention.

By the way, I spotted the introduction of a limited edition Marshmallow Flavoured Energy Milk (that stuff Emmi makes, formerly advertised by DJ Bobo). Now if you could stick that stuff over Lucky Charms cereals, surely some part of your brain's artificial flavour recognition centre will explode, no?
Thanks for the clarification Kittster. I am beginning to realise that you really know your stuff.

Re: Lucky Charms Cereal

You can get something claiming to be Apple Jacks, as well as Faux Froot Loops at Manor.

I'm a little late to this thread, and maybe someone else posted it, but cot dam the best part of a bowl of lucky charms is slurping the sugar milk at the end. Jeez I miss being a kid sometimes.

Re: Lucky Charms Cereal

One of the biggest breakfast issues in Switzerland is you just can't find Maple flavoured Inverted High Fructose Corn Syrup. You can only find the real stuff

You can now. One of those online stores for expats stocks it and some people apparently prefer the taste of the paple flavoured Inverted High Fructose Corn Syrup to real maple syrup which, as you say, is available here.

Most of that thread got deleted as if the thread is a paid-for one, only positive comments are allowed.

Migros really is a missing an aisle totally devoted to pop tarts, too.

Maybe Emmi's Marshmallow Energy Milk is for you? I admit it, I want someone else to try it to see if it really is as artificial as I imagine...

Nah, I don't eat sugar anymore - that "Energy Milk" is disgusting, though I still drink chocolate milk fairly often. Sometimes, however, I just wanna feel like a kid again.

Fun fact, I used to live in Albuquerque, and there is a General Mills plant on the north side of town. I used to drive past it every morning, and my God, when they were making Lucky Charms, it was the best thing you could ever smell.

I think that would be the only good smell to ever come out of Albuquerque!
