Well, then OP will have to look else where than Coop.

Which (if any) would be better for a key lime pie crust?
Digestives would be my choice from those two options. Speculoos are pretty good for key lime pie too. ( but I've only ever eaten it once when Kristanez made one for my birthday last year).

The coop has McVitie's not Hob Nobs... They're not the same right?

No the Mcvitie's are the digestive biscuits.....
Actually both no.

Digestive biscuits are Digestive biscuits
Hob Nobs are Hob Nobs.

McVities are a manufacturer/brand that make both.

Ok for the pedants amongst us I should have been more precise in my post and said the McVities sold at the COOP are digestives and not HobNobs.

Did any of you attend the Expat fair today in Beaulieu? They had two stalls with lots of British food goodies! Jim's said that they expect a shipment of Kipling's mince pies in 10 days... it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

If you're willing to go a little farther, there is a guy at the Viadukt in Zurich who sells British cheeses, beers and fresh made scones. I've seen him selling at the Expat Expo in Berne, so maybe he goes to Lausanne sometimes?

Hey, any chance anyone knows of places in Lausanne where one could buy golden syrup? Or rich tea biscuits and crunchie bars? Globus and Manor used to have Lyle's Golden Syrup, but they don't seem to carry it anymore.

Re: Where can i buy British food-stuff in Lausanne?

Thanks. I've seen that there are a few online retailers in Switzerland that deliver, but was rather hoping there might be a physical store somewhere in Lausanne that might have it. Sadly, I'm thinking I might be out of luck there.

Well, if you can get to either of Jim's places you may be lucky.

http://www.jims-british-market.com/

Also has an online shop option.

Re: Where can i buy British food-stuff in Lausanne?

Particules en suspension (near Etoile Blanche) have a new food/drink store called Particules Fine. I've only been in there once but they did have some UK products. Could be worth a punt, if only to pick up a bottle of Guerilla IPA whilst you're there...

Was by Ouchy this PM, as I thought there is a British foods stand in the parc if you head from the Metro station in direction of the CGN harbour. Seems to be there every Sunday.

I haven't read the whole thread but someone mentioned the online British grocery store here called Britshop, right?

Re: Where can i buy British food-stuff in Lausanne?

As for the American Store in Nyon, I've purchased cake mixes and frostings, Jello, brown sugar, etc. not easily found elsewhere here - but beware the expiration dates of packaged items. I've often found packaged dry foods long past their expiration dates; further, the packaging itself seemed old - like it had been on a shelf in the sunlight for too long.

Makes me wonder where he gets his stock. Seems to me it wouldn't be that cost-effective to actually import from the U.S. (even if he priced at 3X the U.S.); wonder if he's not buying old stock from Europe-based U.S. military base commissaries?
