Where can i buy British food-stuff in Lausanne?

i absolutely love british food stuff! but sadly its very scarce to find it in lausanne!

by british food stuff i meant chocolates such as DAIRY-MILK, biscuits such as HOBNOBS , cornflakes such as SHREDDIES , crisps such as WALKERS...etc...

If you have a car try Jims British Store in Gland or the American Market in Nyon (has a large selection of British goods)

Manor has just started selling Waitrose products, so not necessarily the brands you mention but they might have something similar

They have HobNobs and Walkers at the Coop. Coop, Globus and (i think) Manor all have "British food stuff".

You can always shop online. There are a few British shops in Switzerland with online stores.

Or go to Jim's in Gland.

Re: Where can i buy British food-stuff in Lausanne?

There is a small market down by Chateau D'Ouchy at the weekend. One of the stalls sells British food - lots of sweets, biscuits, marmite etc. Haven't looked at the prices though...

I agree with miniMia & Trailing Hubby. I've come across British food in Migros, Coop (was very surprised to find Marmite), and Globus- along with the little British van in the market by Ouchy (where you can get Yorkshire Tea & even PGTips!!!) The prices might be slightly more but cost-effective if you account for flying over to the UK to indulge in your cravings...

shyampitamber, glad that you started this thread... If any of you manage to find mince pies somewhere in Lausanne & thereabouts in December, could you please post on this thread? Christmas is barely two months away!

The guy who goes to the market in Ouchy always has mince pies but obviously not in Ouchy as the market doesn't take place in winter. He usually goes to shopping centres in the run up to Christmas so there must be one where near Lausanne.
He comes to Neuchatel for a couple of weeks in November and always has loads of Christmas goodies.

They're called Tuck box or Tuck shop I think.

And of course Jim's in Gland will have them.

Re: Where can i buy British food-stuff in Lausanne?

Globus have had mince pies and Christmas puds in previous years (albeit at eye watering prices)

Jim's also does mail order now, so you don't necessarily have to go to Gland:

Hi,

For mince pies or even mincemeat to make your own, you should go along to the Leman Expat Fair on Sunday 3rd November at Beaulieu in Lausanne. http://www.lemanevents.ch/category/lef-exhibitors.html

A quick scan through the list of exhibitors and I found Jim's store as mentioned above plus myExpatShop.

We went last year and found loads of Xmas goodies. It's worth going just for the range of English beers at the Amstein stall. Take public transport!

Cheers

Piv

As a suggestion, if you have specific things from their list of products or want several items, you might want to contact them by phone or email and ask if they could bring the products (reserved for you) to the Expat fair. That way you will not be disappointed when you go.

I went to buy some Marmite at Coop City yesterday as I'd finally run out. That English selection keeps getting better... That and the Indian one. Forgot to take a picture, I'll try to go back this week.

"British foodstuff" ? I strongly presume that what you mean is Indian food done in Britain. In 1972, the Brits had good cheese and and good chocolate, but the general food overthere was rather lousy, most of all without any spices except Gloucestershire sauce.

No the Mcvitie's are the digestive biscuits. Hob Nobs are much sweeter, harder and oaty in consistency.

Well, then OP will have to look else where than Coop.

Which (if any) would be better for a key lime pie crust?
