To me its the quality of meat. But some of the best places in Turkey keep secret the way they prepare their meat.

I´ll vote for the place housed at Halk Süpermarket in Oerlikon.
The guy there is very nice, but unfortunately not the food... for my taste lacks meat. not sure what they do. maybe too oily, maybe too chicken, or whatever...

The taste and fat content of the meat is a big factor... at Sesam Falaffel that I linked to earlier where the meat is CH-sourced, the meat is 'lighter' and more flavoursome, and just feel much less fatty than in inferior kebab houses where the meat probably travels from countries afar and isn't great quality (relatively speaking) to start with. Also the texture of the durum wrap or tachenbrot it's in... you can really tell the difference with the fresher stuff that is baked daily. Finally the vegetables have to be fresh, and a place with a high turnover ensures that this is so.
.... all that, and you should make your assessment when you're sober.

at 3am and a blood alcohol content over 0.9, ALL Kebab's are the best thing in the world.

In my opinion the very best doner in zh is in Josephstrasse (Egemarkt)
I totally agree with this. The best within 200km for sure. The only other place I know of that is almost as good is in Strasbourg.

The kebab cici at egemarkt is one of the finest things about Zurich. I take every out of town guest we have to that place.

Best Doner Kebab in Zürich?

1001 nacht, niederdorf! nobody else has feta cheese on! the spoiler in general is that all joints use the same sauce/dressing brand. makes it bland in my taste. nobody can compete with hallesches tor, berlin. the real thing!

Re: Best Doner Kebab in Zürich?

and by the way: kebaP!!!
what all kebap joints here are missing is the baked bread, done in these waffle irons. these vileda wischmop wraps are disgusting! further the salad variety is a laugh! no carrots, white or red cabbage, no cucumber- tomato-mix. no fried halloumi cheese... and charging a living for that poor performance... i boykotted new point for 2 years. simply because i spent 35 on beer and kebap and was 50 rappen short for a börek... they wanted the full money!!! wixxxaaas!

This is why Ege Import is the really the best IMO: they have their own butcher and baker. Spinning cones of meat are available...but no one really buys them.

Slight observations...they sell no alcohol and hand out tea randomly. Go get a Cici on bread mit allem...then report back.

Re: Best Doner Kebab in Zürich?

Best Doner we've found is naturally within walking distance of our place and yes, we take all the out-of-towners there. OH has to have it once a week or he goes into withdrawals....

King's Kebap & Pizza on General Willie-Strasse in Feldmeilen.

You are right...that is a good eat...however, since its Lebanese its not official a kebab.

Semantics...i know. I apologize. I'm just saying that I really appreciate carob-wrapped meat meals.

http://www.apgsga.ch/media/filer_pub...li_kebap_d.pdf

It was a campaign of the APG Allgemeine Plakat Gesellschaft, to show people how well people can be reached with their Plakate. They took the Turkish writing with the HARD "P" and not the Arabic SOFT "B". I on holidays in Istanbul and Kyrenia/Girne always had the impression that the Turks in speaking use the soft B also. Suppose it is the result of the 1920ies when the newly founded Republic of Turkey in its desire to oppose the still existing Osman Empire which still was using the Arabic writing used the hard P as often as possible. The Republic in fact never took over the Empire as such but only the territory.

The Cèdre Bellevue is not a TakeAway but an excellent "full service" restaurant

Kebab is as official as official anything can be. Shawarma Kebab simply is Arabic for Döner Kebab. You also can find the Shawarma Kebab in the Palme de Beirut on Bertastrasse

In Turkish a word cannot end on p, but declination changes p to b, e.g. kebap, kababi, kebaba, but with consonant following: kebapta, kebaptan, pl kebaplar

In Turkish something called doner kebap does not exist. it is only doner, but there are lots of kebaps: urfa kebabi, adana kebabi, sis kebap, ...
