My point was that German regulations are not relevant here as this is a different country.
Ah, okay, I thought you were alluding to the fact that one shouldn't expect an authentic Doner Kebab outside of Germany* where there is a large Turkish population.

* and Turkey obviously

It only arrived in Zurich in the 90s
Rubbish.

It certainly existed in Zurich in 1982.

True, but you could then say:

Zürich is not Dehli
Zürich is not Paris
Zürich is not Tokyo
Zürich is not Beijing
Zürich is not Karachi
Zürich is not Penang
Zürich is not Tuscany

and so on.

I think Treverus makes a valid point. Not sure what your counter argument is.

Are you saying that food can only be good in it's country of origin and elsewhere it's badness can be excused?
Yes.

No, and Treverus is right about that. Doner kebab quality is generally not really impressive here.

Are you genuinely trying to understand Toms posts? The rest of EF gave up on that literally years ago...

My personal favourite: "Memo" at Lindenplatz (near Altstetten train station). It's directly opposite the tram lines, on the same side as the fruit shop and tobacco store.

They toast the bread, only have one kind of meat on the 2 skewers and have such a high turnover that everything is super fresh. Plus, it's massive and they charge 9.-, so it's a good deal.

Highly recommended!!!

This is still true for me. Memo is the best Kebab I have had in Zurich. I don't think they serve anything other than kebabs nowadays and sometimes at lunch you have a big line outside.

Re: Best Doner Kebab in Zürich?

Is it possible to get a kebab in Switzerland where the meat is actually meat and isn't an overly processed sandwich type lunch meat? My body simply can't handle it.

Re: Best Doner Kebab in Zürich?

I have never managed to have a kebab in Zurich without having to use a bathroom for a longer visit within the a few hours after.

Alas, I don't eat kebab anymore - at least not here.

Yes, here: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Or...93!4d8.5446194

I'm a customer there for years and years. Freshly made dough as well!

Fantastic quality!

How about a Wagyu Kebab?
Sets you back 91.- though.

I had the avocado version a few years ago and was quite impressed. Going by the length of the queue "everybody" agreed. Ayverdis claim to produce gourmet kebab. IIRC they say their "meatroll" is custom made, so you may be able to avoid the issues ordinary off-the-shelf stuff causes you.

Pricey but far from overpriced, based on my single experience.

(are you still in Bern? Perhaps update your profile if not, the thread is about kebab in Zürich, it's a bit confusing)

I commute to Zurich, my office is actually very close to Ayverdi's Oerlikon location. I love that place...but can only stomach the falafel. Their fries (or chips) are also sooo good. They were actually kind enough to check and see if their meat has the ingredient I'm intolerant to and sadly it does. Haven't splurged on the Wagyu kebab though, maybe someday.
