Pre-cooked sausages (to cook on a fire pit or barbie)

Last Summer I was at the local open-air swimming pool and had a quick chat with a Kiwi expat. She was about to go over to the barbeque grill to cook some sausages for her kids and told me that she buys the pre-cooked sausages from the supermarket and re-heats them on the barbie.

Now that the weather is getting nicer (not today though!) I would like to buy some of these pre-cooked sausages myself; I do worry about food-poisoning if cooking raw meat on an open fireplace grill so it does seem safer if the meat is pre-cooked.

Does anyone know the (brand) name of these sausages? More importantly, do they taste good? (I do love the English pork sausages, especially the Lincolnshire kind but appreciate that I'm unlikely to find these here!)

Cervelat are pre-cooked and you can eat them raw or cooked.

Cervelas are pretty much the national sausage here. They are pre-cooked, so you can eat right out of the package or toss them on the grill. You'll find them in pretty much any store that sells food.

ETA marton types too fast.

The best way to eat cervelas is to make a cross with a knife at both ends, and skewer them on a stick with a point made out of hazel or other wood, and grill them over an open fire- as we did when we were kids or in the scouts Delish.
