The place is very close to Oerlikon, you need to take bus no.75 from there to reach Buhnstrasse.
Dont forget to try Sheekh Kabab there its really luscious. | | | | | Hi Pummy
Do you have the address for this place? is it actually on Buhnstrasse?
Nicky

Has anyone tried 'Kobal's? Its next to the Sports bar near Helvetiaplatz. Very small place, good service and doesnt have the 'feel' (nor the price!) of the upmarket restaurants, and thats exactly how I like it. And the food tasted like back-home, which says a lot!

I had many good curries in Goa, and I was always impressed with the curried prawns still in their shells. Much burning of fingers followed.

Just came back from having a curry buffet at Tandoor Haus on Seefeld strasse. For Just 27 Franks it was a deal! and the food specially the tandoori ( grilled) chicken was great.
Must visit it again when the buffet is on |

I took the bus 75 from oerlikon Nord, got off at buhnstrasse stop (which is on seebachstrasse itself) and from there its just 2 min walk to the restaurant, you can see it from the stop on the right hand side itself..happy eating!

Kings WAS good but went down hill.
Spice room was ok - good.
Korma sutra do a good sunday brunch for 29chf's. Havent been for a while but the service was great and the selection was also very good.
Kobal was definately fab but gets very busy and doesn't have much room.
I'm always on the hunt for a good curry.... |

I think King's has gone downhill. My favourite pick for northern (though they also do southern) is Spice Route and Kerala has to take it for me for the southern. I just love their dried curries and their buffets are good.
Been to Vulkan once and never again. Khan is ok but I never know what to expect. They seem to keep changing management.
More info about these places: Restaurant tips - general for Zurich
About Patak's - you can pretty much get it in any asian shop (doesn't even have to be indian). A list can be found here: http://www.englishforum.ch/other-gen...ht=restaurants
I think even the Coop on Rennweg (zurich) has some.
If anyone's come across any Larich brand (Sri Lankan) curries, let me know.
~ Nanda.

I couldn't resist telling you about my favourite Curry House which hasn't yet had a mention. It's in Höngg - about 15 mins from HB on the No, 13 tram (stops immediately outide): http://www.maharani.ch/english/aboutus.asp
I used to live around the corner so it was far too convenient - sadly I now live out in the sticks so getting there is a little more difficult, but worth it.

Best Curry in Zürich?
Homemade using Pataks and various spices means you can experiment so that it either tastes great or you just keep trying.
Restaurant wise, my favourite is Masala at Stauffacher. All dishes have been great, especially lamb gosht.

If you live near or are able to get to Kusnacht then give the following a whirl. Been twice very friendly & accomodating. If they don't have what you want on the menu then you can usually ask. Found it better than the vulcan. http://www.malabargarden.ch/ |

The time I went there with some friends and ordered about 4-6 dishes (can't remember exactly) between us, it was really nothing to write home about, nor recommend. Walked out with no intentions of returning. Is it because of the location that everyone seems to have tried it out?
I don't mind Patak's but good Keralan curries don't come out of them. The buffet at Kerala is pretty good if you've never been. But I just love the dried masala lamb....
Though if we could only get Larich mixes in Zurich (like Patak's but Sri Lankan) ....
My favourite at the moment is Spice Route though I've heard that Spice Gourmet (enge) is also pretty good.
We went to Masala near Stauffacher a few weeks ago. It was good but the mango lassi was definitely something to write home about.

Not sure if I should post here or a new thread...
Anyone know if the Korma Sutra is still going?
