| | Re: The best Indian curry in Zurich? | Quote: | | | | | Went for the lunch buffet at Kings Kurry few days ago - just bland and tasteless. It was something to fill the tummy thats all. Maybe the dinner is better?
But then if you ask me, none of the Indian places here to my liking. I have only liked the starters at most Indian places, the main course is usually nothing much to talk about, sadly. Went to Tandoori many moons ago - need to try it again I guess. | | | | | What you have to remember about buffets, is that they cater generally for the lowest common denominator in terms of taste, so err on the side of bland to keep the Swiss palate happy.
Quality-wise, I have no complaints about the Tandoori BBQ buffet (and like stuffing myself on the normally expensive starters), but if you want something properly tasty/spicy for your main course you need to order a la carte and ask for it to be made to your taste. The chicken jalfrezi for example is as good as most I've had in the UK.

Thanks Sandip for an excellent cooking class were we were shown how to make 3 types of pakoras, dahl, 3 curries, 3 types of naan and chaiapati'. The food was superb and most definitely the best Indian I've had since I left the UK, the good company topped it off, and made it a very enjoyable afternoon/evening | This user would like to thank Papa Goose for this useful post: | |

Would love to participate if there's another one of these planned...love the Tandoori BBQ, been there now and again with work contacts but also on my own dime, and always been very happy with it. | Quote: | | | | | Thanks Sandip for an excellent cooking class were we were shown how to make 3 types of pakoras, dahl, 3 curries, 3 types of naan and chaiapati'. We went to Chalet India at Horgen Oberdorf station on Friday. Proper, rajasthani (rather than English) style indian food. Spicy rather than chilli all the way.

And the appetizers were a joke ....

But erring on the side of BAD is another. Rewarmed, poorly prepared food, sitting out in the open where everyone can ___________ (breath, spit, lose hairs, etc.) in it is just wrong (and would be against the health code in most cities). Sorry, never again. | Quote: | | | | if you haven't already tried King's curry, go there, it's the best curry in zurich! | | | | | Agree. We have done take away from here twice a month and sit down a few times a year for the past few years. Food has been consistently well prepared, service is always friendly and relatively speedy, and they have a good wine list (which you need since they started making their own version of Kingfisher ).

Here's a plug for the peeps doing the Indian food island in the newly opened CS Tower staff restaurant. The quality and flavours are excellent. The spicey level leaning more towards the Brit than Swiss taste and with the excellent option of a few pickles on hand to beef it up if required.
Buffet style? Serve yourself? With our reputaion? What were they thinking of? |

As A Indian I love my country food, especially south Indian food.
And when I miss it here, I go to Kobal Cafe in Kanzelaistrasse.
Try Dosai(SouthINidan Rice pan cake ) in this restaurant .... Then you will look for Dosai in every indian place
SOme of you wanted too cook.. I guess cooking is not at all difficult.
now you get the ingredient pretty easily in some INdian shop.
Alos you can get some instant mix dry curry powder along with instructions availabe in these shops. I guesss you can make better curry and rise at home than any shop.
you just need find this shop, I guess there are plenty in zürich.

| | Tips for an indian restaurant in ZH
Hi everyone, I'd like to surprise my wife for St. Valentine with a dinner in a new place ... the surprise is that she will pay!!! She loves indian food and to go to new places, so that if someone could reccomend an indian restaurant, I would appreciate ... since I will pay, I am not looking for something extremely expensive!
Thanks!
