EU bans Indian mangoes

Here is the news article:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...k-9309990.html

But will this ban effects availability of these mangoes in Switzerland too? I am waiting for delicious alphonso mangoes.

Usually Switzerland abides by EU rules. But if Indian packers sprayed the fruit flies, there would be no problem.

Good riddance. I always get a sour taste in my mouth from the horrible Indian mangoes while waiting for a real Pakistani mango.

India and Pakistan are the same awful country. I prefer to purchase non-rape cultured mangoes.

There is a precedent. Bananas. When the EU blocked the imports of Bananas from Central America, Switzerland did NOT . And so, I expect Switzerland NOT to go along with the EU . Not least as Switzerland is in negotiations with India about a comprehensive free-trade-agreement.

Proud more than angry - nobody groaned you for stating your preference rather making an unnecessary statement. You are entitled to your preference as others should be if your statement is something that should be thanked or groaned at. I'm also not sure if you really have had the real alphonso since it is one of the sweetest mangoes there is - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alphonso_(mango). Nevertheless this thread should not be hijacked for this discussion as I am sure that the OP only intended this to be as information for all.

... nope didn't want it anyhow-was only trying to help actually. At least I've resisted groaning you, when you and your sidekick have groaned me again, and again and again - hence my rolf. (where is that 'grow up' emoticon )

So you complain about being groaned at- and you groan and groan again go on, groan again to show how big you are, you know you want to

Give me your address and I will forward you all the SVP material that they stuff into my mailbox, I'm sure you will find something racist in all that lot.

And I'm a racist for liking one country's fruit over another's!

I better not express my opinion about wooden Spanish strawberries versus lovely British ones.
