If you are in somewhere nearby Oerlikon, www.asiaway.ch/ is an Ok Vietnamese res. It quite crowded at dinner times, so lunch is usually relax time to enjoy far-east-asian cuisines.

Yes, but Korean and Japanese are even more "not cheap"

As long as all pictured people did you not give you the explicit approval foor it, they can charge you for this!
Besides, it shows extreme bad manner as well. Mind you! | Quote: | | | | | What are the best and cheapest places to eat in Zurich and around Zurichsee, under 20chf for a meal? I am talking about good nutrition where you can get real meat, not McDonald's and kebab.
The Manor restaurant on Bahnhoftrasse offers some good choices of nutrition for reasonable prices. The underground floor of Jelmoli Zurich has a few restaurants where meals are around 20chf.
In Rapperswil we have the Migros Restaurant in the Sonnenhof shopping center and a few kebab places...
Pfaffikon SZ has a few choices: Sukhothai close to the Bahnhof where meals are 16-19 chf, close to the Gemainde Pfaffikon SZ is China Restaurant Lung Fung where a chicken fried rice meal is 13chf, and Metzg am Dorfplatz on the ground floor of the same building owned by the parents of «DSDS»-Star Beatrice Egli that offers meals for 14chf.
Please contribute with your tasty, nutritious and inexpensive food discoveries.

Migros and Coop restaurants have really good and healthy meals, and you find them in many places. The normal menus are 10.- to 15.- (take-away 8.- to 10.-), and menus with a special kind of meat like steak are around 18.-.
In HB below the central hall close to Migros are Horber (best sausages in town) and opposite of it Stocker (sandwiches among the best in town). Both good value for an average price.

Le Cedre a lebanese place where you can have a lebanese wrap (meat or veggie) for chf 8-9 if i recall correctly and a fairly generous sit down meal for approximately chf 20 if for Zurich prices great value. The wraps are really tasty i've tried most of them and considering that the place is really conveniently located (close to the Rathaus) i am a regular there

| | Re: Places to eat around Zurich - Good cheap nutrition - | Quote: | | | | | I love Friends Corner in between Zürich HB and Hardbrücke (Josefstrasse 140). It is around 16CHF for a huge amount of food (enough to feed two easily). It is maybe not the best ambiance for stay in food, but for cheap good Indian I havent found better! | | | | | I absolutely love this place and have been going for years. I usually get a takeaway. As you say, the portions are so large I get 2 meals out of one portion, and I'm a big eater!
I do have to correct you though, it is not Indian food. While the dishes served here are similar to South Indian cuisine, this is Tamil food (Sri Lankan).
Having been disappointed by most of the Indian restaurants in Zürich, I now only frequent Tamil places for curries, such as Friend's Corner and India Street Food (despite the name, this is also Tamil food). The food is made by Sri Lankans for Sri Lankans, authentic.

Pho Vietnam, to my great disappointment since I live just around the corner, started off strong and quickly got lazy and cuts corners now (lemon instead of lime now? no plate of herbs on the side? c'mon...). And their service is all over the place. When the boss man is around it's great, when he's not, it's not even fast-food level... | Quote: | | | | | Sorry if it is maybe a little bit offtopic... Do you really like Hiltl? Is it really so good? I seems to be a little bit expensive... | | | | | It's hella expensive, to use the technical term, but it really is good. I'm a committed omnivore, but I do love the food there, even if it is, as someone else here said, not the bleeding edge of vegetarian cooking. | Quote: | | | | | Are you aware of that you just commited a "crime" by publishing your private picture with unknown people on it on a public forum?

Besides, it shows extreme bad manner as well. Mind you! | | | | | IANAL, but from my understanding of Swiss law, that is incorrect. You are not allowed to take or use a picture of a person (i.e. where the person is the subject) without their permission. But if you take a picture in a public place, and a person happens to be in the picture, but the person is not the subject of the photo, then it's fair game. In the picture in question, people are just standing around, and it's clear that the photo is of a food stand, not of a particular person.

Eating in the restaurants of Zurich is really really expensive and most importantly the food are not as delicious as we thought!

I can recommend Five Spice (Thai), which offers lunch menus for 15-18.- There's one at Bahnhof Wiedikon and one at Lochergut. Also Chiang Mai Thai shop behind Hauptbahnhof (can you tell I like Thai food ^^)
Plus there's Schnägg at Hauptbahnhof and Stadelhofen. It's vegetarian, so it doesn't fulfill the meat factor, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. It's a little take away which sells sandwiches, salads and some other stuff for 5.-

They all seem to be called Cedre in Zurich
I like Ah Hua II near Helvetiaplatz : http://www.ah-hua.ch
Very tasty Thai food. Don't forget to reserve though as it tends to get full!

Im not sure if its still there now but there used to be a Malaysian/Sushi place on Unterstrasse one stop down from Hotel krone which was fantastic, cheap and quality food.
You had to get there early as it only used to have about 4 tables in it, and it sold out fast.
Awesome food.
