World's biggest chocolate makers say we are running out of chocolate

From The Canberra Times (Australia), taken from The Washington Post:

There's no easy way to say this: You're eating too much chocolate, all of you. And it's getting so out of hand that the world could be headed towards a potentially disastrous (if you love chocolate) scenario if it doesn't stop.

Those are, roughly speaking, the words of two huge chocolate makers, Mars, Inc. and Barry Callebaut. And there's some data to back them up.
Now putting to one side the accuracy (or lack thereof) of the populist media in Anglophone countries like Australia, UK and USA..... they still can't be serious, right?

What would it be like in CH if chocolate prices went up?

Re: World's biggest chocolate makers say we are running out of chocolate

It might depend on what distributor they get their chocolate. Swiss-based chocolatiers are probably buying their chocolate from somewhere else than Mars.

But if the prices will go up (and in Switzerland there are a lot of products from Mars avaiable as well), I would think that only those products of the bigger companies would go up, as for the prices of the "smaller" companies are already much higher than the others and they might not even be affected by that.
And if they go up as well, we might have just to only consume chocolate as little as possible. :/

I'm surprised those companies are concerned, seeing the concentration of cocoa in their chocolate is actually so low.
