What about this one: http://www.coop.ch/pb/site/common2/n...Lde/index.html ?

It is part of the current cooptrophy.
Thanks guys. Which one is better, how big is the one from Migros?

It looks like the one from migros is a very good brand and swiss made... I think.

https://migros-service.migros.ch/de/...70330390000006

I cannot find any information about it. How much does it cost?
I will check it on monday.

Re: Pressure Cooker - Schnellkochtopf

December is not a good month for sales... at least not until after Christmas. My Migros pressure cooker is a Kuhn Rikon and I'm very pleased with it.

Re: Pressure Cooker - Schnellkochtopf

They are less expensive in France. I bought the one with a screw clamp top because they look less likely to explode. i get antsy when I use them.

Re: Pressure Cooker - Schnellkochtopf

I have a small kuhn rikon (3.5 litres) and love it. Am thinking though that i might get a bigger one next month....probably another kuhn rikon. They have a fabrik in rikon - near winterthur, i'll check there. It's very easy to use and quite safe if you follow the instructions.

I also bought one from Migros when they were on offer. Got mine about 6 years ago, and still working well....touch wood no problems with it.

Phos - Just looking at yours makes me antsy!

Recall stories of Mother- in-law that ended up with red cabbage or something all over ceiling, hence will be going for the electric one.

Yes! I think the one from Migros is onli 3.5L big... I need the 5L one to cook for some days and keep it freezed and save time.

I love the old fashioned food.

Please, inform us about where you get your rikon from the fabric. I am very interested. I saw the catalog in the website and the cookers are expensive but they worth the value I think, and if we could get a good price, better.

Re: Pressure Cooker - Schnellkochtopf

Our local Migros (MM) has a 7 litre Duromatic Ergo (Kuhn Rikon) on special for CHF 99.00

It has a special packaging box with HIT and the Price 99.- printed on the box.

Here is the photo. It might be easier to find this way.

Re: Pressure Cooker - Schnellkochtopf

As someone who had been scared of pressure cookers for far too long, I finally broke down and bought one a few years ago. It's a marvelous contraption that's incredibly easy to use. The key is following the instructions in the booklet and being able to apply them to your pressure cooker.

My pressure cooker has two red lines on the regulator. If the instructions say to steam potatoes at 3 minutes at the first red line, then that's all there's to it. Put a bit of water in the pan, use the sieve so the food doesn't touch the bottom of the pan, close the lid, turn up the heat and wait for the regulator to reach the red line so it can cook accordingly. If there's too much heat, I just push the regulator and let out a bit of steam and turn down the stove.

After the allowed time, I take away the pan, cool the sides under cold running water and viola, my food is done.

Last week, I made whole grain rice within 20 minutes. No pre-soaking or cooking for 1 hour. If you're cooking legumes and rice, just make sure you have enough water, season, don't use the sieve and you'll have a prepared dish within a short period of time.

It's especially fantastic for cooking potatoes.

Re: Pressure Cooker - Schnellkochtopf

As an Indian, I can confidently say that a pressure cooker is a live saver for us. Every Indian household has at least one pressure cooker, and it is put to use nearly every day. I use it to cook legumes and lentils etc, and cannot think of using the regular pots as it would take ages cooking in them.
We use a very popular Indian brand - "Hawkins" cooker that is available in some Indian stores here as well. eg Agarwals near Langstrasse had them last time I checked. It is very popular amongst Indians and costs a fraction of the Kuhn Rikon ones, lasts years!

thank you very much!

7L is more than enought for me.
And this is the highest model from kuhn rikon........

I will catch one on monday. I hope they still have some.

I would say that this one is MUCH BETTER than the one from coop, that it's only 5L.

I read reviews on the one from coop (the wmf), and they were very mixed. I have the smaller version of the kuhn rikon and i love it. It's great for cooking legumes like cici (garbanzo beans), and makes an awesome chicken or beef stock. But i really need the 6-7 l for making stock.

great, so it will be better with this 7L one...
I think I will catch it direct on monday.......

In winter, a plate with legumes with rice, or garbanzos is the best to get warm...

That's the same one I bought about 6-7 years ago, and it's still great. Was worth the money I spent on it.

Re: wanted: Pressure cooker [Neuchatel]

Hm, the pressure cooker sounds very interesting. I'm afraid 7L is too much for a two people household though, especially since it's the first time we'll use it. What would you suggest? Can you use such a big cooker to cook small(er) meals or should it be filled to the rim (or red line, from what I read )?

I am more afraid that if you don't find one today or tomorrow, there will be none left. This is the case in my local store - they are all gone. Migros does an in and out special on this model. When they are gone, they are gone.
