Zuger Kirschtorte

Where in Zug sells the best Zuger Kirschtorte? Is there any price difference between sellers?

I bought once at Treichler, supposedly the one that introduced it?
I forgot about the price though.

...it was better after a few days in the fridge when some of the alcohol has evaporated...

It's good though and you have the advantage that you get something sweet and get drunk at the same price.

Should I say that I fancy the booze because it comes with pink colour?

Re: Zuger Kirschtorte

I asked some people from Zug I work with. They all voted for either

http://www.zumbibeck.ch/home

or

http://www.diezugerkirschtorte.ch/

and added to avoid Speck.

I'm not so sure about that - bacon goes with everything, right?

Doesn't work. Again and again you Britons complain that there is no "real" bacon in Switzerland.

Probably Treichler, though Meier is pretty good as well.
Sadly Treichler is not independent anymore but now belongs to Heini ( the renowned Lucerne confectioners ) but the Kirsch Torte is still made by Treichler.
I used to make a lot of these a few years ago and they are quite tricky to get just right..a nice dense almond Genoese sponge absorbs a serious amount of Kirsch for anyone who fancys a go.

Re: Zuger Kirschtorte

After 12 years in Zug, for me:
1. Strickler
2. Treichler
Meier is has too much base and not enough kirsch.

The chcolate Zugerli's from Aeschbacher on Bahnhofstrasse are even better if you are a kirsch fan.

I got a Kirschtorte at Speck and while it was ok, the sample size on the wall seemed bigger. The service there is not great either.

Re: Zuger Kirschtorte

I think the best one I have had came from Von Rotz in Rotkreuz. Possibly too much Kirsch for some tastes though...
