good white wine for under chf 10

if anyone is looking for a good non-extravagant white wine, i just had this -
http://www.coopathome.ch/wine-cellar...914010-WEIN/en
Argiolas Costamolino Vermentino di Sardegna DOC 2014

currently chf 9.95 while it's on offer. it has a delicious crisp and clean flavor, no sweetness (which spoils seafood IMO)

any other good whites or roses around about chf 10 or is that one a fluke?

Re: good white wine for under chf 10

I tend to drink Luins (4,70 for 50cl), more than others. Fechy (5,90 for 50cl) is another preference.

When I was much younger, I quite liked Frascati, but haven't seen it (or looked for it) for years.

I do miss Blue Nun and Black Tower, though.

A re-launched Blue Nun got a decent review on the Food and Drink programme (BBC 2) recently!

God help us.
I thought these old 80's trendy wine bar 'classics', were long dead and buried.

However, when I did go German, it was often Piesporter Michelsberg; sometimes just a basic Moselle.

Re: good white wine for under chf 10

I buy the 3 litre boxed wine from Denner for 9.45. Obviously not for taking to a dinner party!!

Drinkable. I have drank worse wines at 5 francs a glass. Some of them taste like vinegar.

Re: good white wine for under chf 10

This is such a relative question that it makes no sense whatsoever to ask it on an internet forum where most people do even know each other.

What you look for in a wine may not be what i look for, therefore what you, or Robert Parker may think about a wine is irrelevant if it doesn't have that elusive flavour you're looking for.

Re: good white wine for under chf 10

Did you answer the OPs question?

I know everyone has their own tastes etc. when it comes to wine. If i could afford it i would be buying 30 franc bottles of wine everyday.

He asked about wines under 10 francs. What is yours?

Blue Nun!! Friday nights, before going out....!!! Usually drunk whilst doing our hair and make up.... And listening to Wham.

What importance is the price you pay, saying you'd buy Chf 30/bottle wine if you don't enjoy it, because some will be good like Denner Chf 9.45/3 litres and some will be vinegar at Chf 5.-- glass.

As for drinkable, most is drinkable, but pleasurable, that is all together a different question

Re: good white wine for under chf 10

Our current standard white is a chardonnay d'oc from Aldi France, at under 3 euros a bottle. Really, really very good, regardless of price, and therefore an absolute must buy of a case or three whenever I'm passing their way. Haven't checked if it's available here too, but worth looking out for.

Hum, interestingly the larger Swiss Co-ops are selling a pretty drinkable Chardonnay d'Oc in a three litre box for chf 9.95. There's a rose in the range for the same price, and a red (can't remember the grape unfortunately) for 12.95.
3euros is certainly a reasonable price for a day to day tipple.

A high price tag doesn't alway indicate drinkable/decent, as Patsycat's pointed out.

Re: good white wine for under chf 10

There are 3 adjectives commonly used with wine, cheap, expensive and good, none of these are necessarily connected in any way, but this doesn't say they can't be, it is very much a question of personnel taste.

I don't know the ones on the left but the Don Simon is definitely better than you'd expect and can easily measure with wines that are 1 or 2 CHF more expensive .

Which part did you not understand in the term "white wine", in the thread title?
