Looking for a Goose for Christmas

Hi there, just wondering if any one could help. I am looking to buy a 6kg goose for Next Sunday's lunch, I live in Basel-land, any ideas where I can get one?
Thank you

Re: Looking for a Goose for Christmas

Any butcher should be able to get one for you. They have them in Manor, Migros and COOP here near to Christmas so if you ask at the butcher's counter in your local store I'm sure you'll be able to order one for the weekend.
Be prepared for the shock when you see the price though.

Re: Looking for a Goose for Christmas

I'm looking too. Lidl had them last year in the equivalent of this week, but when I asked last week, they said they'd had them the week before. I think Migros is my next place to try

Re: Looking for a Goose for Christmas

Any Migros food shop will take an order from you for a frozen goose. Expect delivery after one extra working day: order Monday, pick up on Wednesday.

Turkeys, goats, pigs, lambs, etc. many times from them, and fresh, not frozen.

They usually need a week's notice, but have never let me down.

He pardoned a turkey, while the OP wants a goose

Edeka (E-Center) in Germany are selling different sizes of goose (frozen) at the moment. From Poland if I am not mistaken. Choose the nearest shop, go and buy if you are happy :-)

Here's a place you can get a 3kg (buy 2?) delivered. The bird is from a farm in the Zürich region:

The Jucker farm is famous around here for good quality geese. One sees them roaming in the meadows there in gangs - like real live living the good life Geese!

Watch out if you do that, though, as the duty free limit is very low - sth like 1kg per person. Duty over that is Fr 17 per kg.

A lot of money though. I found a fresh goose (4kg) in Migros today but it was Fr 147!

I'm not expecting Lidl's Fr 40 price outside of Lidl (or Aldi) but that's a bit steep for me

Re: Looking for a Goose for Christmas

Which city are you in?
I know there is a supermarket which sells gooese in zurich.
I don't think you can buy one either in COOP or migoros
