Where can you find "proper" Pâté (Terrine) in Zürich?

All I can find in the supermarkets are tiny portions of that smooth goopy stuff. What I want is the French style Terrine De Campagne, the thick chunky meaty stuff that when combined with crusty bread and butter provides a near spiritual experience.

Any ideas?

Do what I do: Make your own.
(Or drive to France)

Are you sure that is not a meat loaf in your picture?

Edit: Here a recipe http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandst...ry-pate-recipe

They sell it Manor here but that may be because we're much nearer to the French border.
It is quite easy to make but probably not practical for one person unless you like pâté a lot.

Second this. I searched high and low throughout Züri-land (well, as far as anyone allergic to shopping can...) but always came away disappointed.

So I bought OH a french cookbook (he's a far better chef than I) and now he has become something of a Pâte master. It's actually easy to make - and the varieties infinite.

Or you could choose the 'fun' option - head out to Beaune (FR) to Ma Cuisine, a small bistro that makes perhaps the best terrine I have ever had:

http://www.gaultmillau.fr/restaurant...-cuisine-9033/

A 4-5 hour drive is nothing if the goal is a good pâte lunch.

Re: Where can you find "proper" Pâté (Terrine) in Zürich?

Thanks guys but while I can Google recipes for anything, I want to be able to buy some., and without driving for hours.

I will try Manor, Jelmoli or Globus (I forgot those had specialist food sections) and let you know if I find anything good.

In the meantime if anyone knows a place please let me know.

He wants pate de campagne, not pate de foie gras, two totally different things!

That said, making your own is probably the best option.

If you're up for doing it yourself, I could scan you some recipes (some in English, most in French)

Tom

The Manor in Basel has a deli section. I used to buy coarse paté in jars from there.

Thanks Mimi that's very kind of you to offer but I'll just buy it locally as it then saves us both the hassle and ensures there's no issues.

No confirmed sighting but Jelmoli might be worth a look.

Did you find any and if so where? I'm also craving for it ..... although not enough to make it myself. Yet.

Globus. We recently bought a chunk of proper pâté but not exactly Terrine de Campagne tbh.
