Yep, got those too and used them the past few days.

I have these cappuccino cups on my mind, which have a very wide surface (while not being deeper than a normal cup) where the fluffy milk is presented in it's full glory. I've not seen them on internet and begin to think, these cups only seemed so wide in diameter when I was much smaller

Are you looking for something similar to the cup on the right? It doesn't look massively bigger than the regular coffee cup (to me).

Yes but larger - not higher, larger.
In short: I look for a cup totally out of proportion.

Amazing that people still use of the shelf coffee cups.

We make our own coffee cups using an ancient Chinese porcelain recipe to have the right shape and material for an optimal aroma

I have two quite large stoneware wide bowl-like cappuccino cups and love them. They stay warm for longer too once heated so coffee's good in them.

I found mine in M&S in the UK - they don't have them anymore, I just looked on-line.

You could always get k_and_e to fire up his kiln.

LOL. Thanks for checking.

I was gonna point k_and_e to where my birthdate is mentioned in the profile but the guy talks about aroma I talk about feel, memories, ambience, pheeeew.
I sorted the aroma-problem about 50 pages further up in this thread

The shot of whisky in my coffee takes care of that.

Re: Coffee Machine recommendation ?

Well, in the couple of weeks since I bought it, the Delonghi Dedica Style 685 has become an integral part of my morning routine. I can now make very acceptable cappuccinos and the milk frother isn't bad when you get used to it, though I am sure there are better ones out there. I have developed a new appreciation for coffee simply because it is the first time I have enjoyed drinking it so much... my double shot cappuccinos and flat whites are delicious and have enough kick to get me very awake for my trip to work.

I also bought decaf (Hag) for those times when I want a coffee without the kick and it tastes pretty decent too. I haven't tried my manual burr grinder yet as the electric grinder makes a weeks worth in one buzz and still tastes awesome.

It's easy to clean and once you get into a routine its easy to use and doesn't take too long. Overall, it's a really great machine and I can only recommend that others consider it if they are looking for a high quality coffee machine that is so much more satisfying to use than the automatic capsule ones.

Delonghi is a pretty good brand and within a reasonable budget, I think. I've had two different models and wasn't disappointed.

Hope you don't get a problem with your DeLonghi machine, Richdog, although anecdotal evidence suggests that you probably will; you may never get the fault rectified. That was my experience, along with all these people.

Of course, YMMV. There's always hope.

Thanks, I hope I don't get problems too however my sales contract isn't with Delonghi, it's with Media Markt. I take it to them and they organise a repair or replacement... I wouldn't contact Delonghi direct.

My first one was an older model I just don't remember now and we gave it away because we went through the capsules phase, but it was still functioning.
The current one - Delonghi Autentica Cappuccino* is 2 years old and had no issues...I think we've read pretty good reviews before purchasing it otherwise we wouldn't have gone just for the brand.
Don't know, anecdotal evidence being anecdotal evidence, and having no real numbers of happy customers compared to unhappy ones, let's hope for the best. Enjoy your coffee!....while it lasts, some would say.

*funnily enough I rarely make cappuccinos now that I have it. Just espresso and long coffee and they're darn tasty... sometimes I needed some serious self-restraint not to go for another one.

At this point I am genuinely not worried about it, same as with the many, many other household electronic devices I own. With small-scale stuff like this I deal with problems as they happen, I don't waste time worrying about them a year or more before. Media Markt have always been great with my returns/repairs etc in the past so my own experience is positive and the quality of the Delonghi service will anyway vary country to country.

Re: Coffee Machine recommendation ?

Well, after living with and enjoying my Delonghi Dedica Style 685 for a few months I am, in true first-world excess, style considering upgrading it to a fully automatic model where paying 3x more will mean I never have to grind my own beans or froth my own milk again.

Considering the Delonghi Eletta ECAM44.660.B which costs 545chf at Microspot at the moment, 10% cheaper than anywhere else https://www.beantocupcoffeemachines....-660-b-eletta/ and https://en.toppreise.ch/prod_355107.html

Yes, the law of diminishing returns most certainly applies, but in the end if I have multiple guests round my place and don't want to repeatedly have to clean out the single-use machine or constantly froth milk to make multiple coffees in a row then I think it is worth it to me.

My parents had this machine, but they broke down after three years. But I think this can happen to every machine no matter in which price range...

Re: Coffee Machine recommendation ?

Well, in the end I bought the Siemens EQ.6 S800 from Galaxus https://www.galaxus.ch/en/s2/product...akers-10244043

They had a super deal on Preispirate.ch the other week for 749chf reduced from 945chf but sadly I missed it by a whisker https://www.preispirat.ch/siemens-eq...00-te658509de/

However, I contacted Digitec and they were extremely generous, allowing me to still buy the machine for the reduced price. I then added a 5 year warranty (I don't intend to change this machine for ages) to really give it longevity and it still came to 860chf. I will then sell my Delonghi Dedica Style 685 and get 130chf or so back from it meaning it is still good value to me and still well under the German and UK prices.

So why the Siemens EQ.6 S800 (which is in fact a slightly updated veryion of the S700)? Well, after buying my Delonghi expresso machine I knew that considering how much I loved the taste of freshly ground coffee my only upgrade would be a bean to cup machine so that I no longer had to do the grinding myself, which gets a bit annoying when I have guests round and need to do it a couple of times in one day.

I then next thought seriously about if I wanted one that just did expressos, or one that also did milk drinks like cappucino and Lattes etc. The milk wand on my Delonghi was "ok", but it was still a pain in the rear to use and in the end convenience won over. Even better, the Siemens EQ.6 S800 does 2x milk-based drinks at once which will save some time and add convenience when multiple people are standing around waiting.

The machine is also very well made... a mix of steel and plastic with a clear and easy to read drinks selection screen. All drinks are customisable in strength, amount and temperature, including creating your own drinks, so you can really customise things to your taste.

Siemens are also super reliable and well-engineered in general with great decent service so I have no major fears on that front.

Reviews of the machine (not many in English as it's mainly distributed popular in Europe):

Coffeeness (German) https://www.coffeeness.de/siemens-eq6-test/

Maxicoffee (French) https://www.maxicoffee.com/siemens-s...k-p-46235.html

Amazon.de reviews https://www.amazon.de/Siemens-TE6575.../dp/B074QL4W4K

You can google a lot more, it is very highly rated and I would say the best overall Full Automatic there is for the money.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah you are right, all mechanical machines are subject to failure sadly, but that one your parents had was rated very highly.

Re: Coffee Machine recommendation ?

Well, I now have my coffee machine but not the model I originally ordered. When I received the Siemens EQ.6 Plus S800 I was disappointed to find it has way more plastic than the S700 it supposedly replaced, so emailed Digitec to say so. They VERY kindly then offered to swap me to the Siemens EQ.6 Plus S700 for free (it should cost 150chf more and they even paid return shipping!) so the end result is that I now have a new, shiny and awesome S700 with all the stainless steel build quality goodness. I guess they must randomly every so often select someone for a "PR and goodwill" exercise, so I was very happy with how it worked out and will reward them via justified glowing reviews on Toppreise etc.

Anyway, I unpacked it and put my favourite and imo delicious Caruso Espresso beans in it and for the last few days have been in coffee heaven. https://produkte.migros.ch/caruso-espresso-bohnen-500g

The machine can be summed up as:

-------------------------------------

PRO'S

-Build quality seems very good (as Siemens products usually are).
-Grinds quietly (relative to others I have heard).
-Is VERY customisable and you can quickly and easily tailor all possible drinks to your needs. You can customise cup size and amounts, coffee strength, temperature etc.
-Has good milk foam.
-Can make strong coffee even without the double shot function... when I tried the double shot I was buzzing my nadgers off.
-Milk system is pretty clever and consists of a "rubber straw" that can be placed directly in any milk carton (or whatever other vessel you choose) for maximum convenience.
-Has an excellent regular cleaning system that gives me confidence that the machine is hygenic and ready to use.

COULD BE IMPROVED

-Milk drinks could be hotter, but the milk starts cold and fresh so it is to be expected.
-Machine goes through water maybe quicker than others and needs the drip tray emptying more frequently due to the very good cleaning system.

-------------------------------------

So, in summary it is a pricey but much appreciated purchase that I am sure (with the 5 year warranty I purchased) will give me years of coffee satisfaction. I'm looking forward to doing some game/dinner nights and putting it through the guest test.
