We are very happy with our DeLonghi Autentica Cappuccino, I would gladly recommend it.

OK, it doesn't do fancy. It just does damn good coffee in industrial quantities in about 3 min for a litre.
I love mine to bits, it's bombproof, and although discontinued you can get them for cheap on places like tutti.

Which? magazine bean-to-cup recommendations top rated ones are mostly DeLonghi machines.
Extensive testing by an unbiased, non-profit, non-ad supported organisation is, of course, no substitute for the opinions, non-sequiturs and tangents of the general EF clientele.

Never use the steam thing - we have a cheap (20 chf) Manor version of the Nespresso milk frother, works great for cappucino or non-frothy hot chocolate.

We are using an SAECO Machine like this: https://www.fust.ch/de/p/kuechengera...r-8149009.html
Works fine, easy to clean, good coffee, in heavy use since a little more then a year for coffee and hot water (Tea). Not a single issues so far.

I have a DeLonghi similar to this http://www.delonghi.com/en-int/produ...0sb-0132214042
Strongly recommend. Cca 400-500 CHF and can do everything you described.

I am always careful with these things - too lazy (who wants to waste an hour monitoring the cleaning process and adding / removing water?) to do proper deep clean maintenance on the equipment (buy tablets, worry you didn't clean machine properly, machine still flashing angrily at you, etc.).
Let's face it, you enjoy the machine for three months and then all hell breaks lose...
If someone really really wants one, maybe there is a way of renting one, like companies do? Pay monthly fee and let others deal with the calc and other machine ailments?
Hmmm... Any advice - buy or rent? Anyone done either or both? |

The DeLonghi I posted earlier needs to be descaled (just put the descaling liquid in and follow the instructions) about once a year and I use mine roughly three times a day. I set the hardness of the water to its minimum setting as I use Brita-filtered water; if not it would obviously need descaling more regularly.
Around every 10-15 coffees you need to empty the used coffee pucks and tip out the contents of the drip tray. Takes a few seconds. Usually I use that opportunity to wipe around inside, clean the drip tray bits and also the brewing thing inside. Takes about 2 minutes, but doesn't need to be done each time anyway. Really the DeLonghi ones are easy to keep clean.

| | Re: Coffee Machine recommendation ? | Quote: | | | | | In my experience, there is only one device which makes decent coffee:
Benefits:
- Cheap to purchase and replace
- virtually bulletproof
- you can take it with you wherever you go
- almost no maintenance required
- longevity
Drawbacks:
- You cannot just press a button
- there is no "steam and milk thing" | | | | | I go for the button.
The last thing I want to do when still sleepy is screw around like this.
I suppose it is cool too to do this... so fair enough...I guess.

Another happy user of the De Longhi ECAM mentioned above. You can sometimes pick these type up discounted in COOP (I did at 350 Sfr a few years back). I don't drink large quantiites, but I like my coffee strong and full flavoured. I use the Lavazza ORO beans, buy the large packs in bulk when they're discounted (packs of 3) and keep them in the freezer until needed. Have kept a pack for >1 and still tastes great. I use the stongest setting 2-cup espresso, twice for a decent full mug of coffee. Serving portion can be configured through the little menu.
Plus: compact, cheap, smart looking, tastes good, configurable cup sizes and strengths, quick and easy to use
Downsides: water tank quite small - is only good for maybe 3-4 mugs, drip tray needs regular emptying from the post-serve flushing (I don't place another cup under it) and waste grindings also. It's also a bit noisy from the grinder, but I guess all the cheaper ones are. The rotary control knob (electronic menu) is also a bit fiddly - often jumps the option you are trying to hit.

Just picked up a De Longhi ETAM 29.660.SB Autentica (their naming system is atrocious) in the M-electronics Sale, and I have to say I'm very impressed indeed.
My image of fully automatic coffee machines was this..
..but how wrong I was. Using just Movenpick beans from Denner my first creations have wowed me and as I get better quality beans I am sure things will only improve.

I ended up buying a DeLonghi iconica . Retro style thingy. It's not what I planned, no grinder but next best thing. It's small and fits where i wanted it.
It's pretty good but I haven't found the perfect coffee for it yet. Need to try a few more niche types.

I have 2 of these, home and in the workshop.
50% discounted at the moment too. Enjoying good coffee since.
I like the smell of fresh ground coffee in my workshop.
Apparently, I make a great cappuccino! http://www.conforama.ch/produkt_ecam..._973004__42053 |

The savings are still there but not as much as advertised.
