Fresh orange juice

I love fresh orange juice, and every week treat myself to a nice litre of it from the coop presse. Last week I went out and bought myself a little orange juicer from Mediamarkt for Fr 19, got 8 kg sweet oranges from Lidll, and now get to enjoy a fresh glass of it every day. Don't know why I never thought of it before, but I'm enjoying having the big jug of it in my fridge to pour whenever I feel like some. It's a bargain at the mo, especially with 2kg of sweet oranges for only a few francs at Lidl. Cheers

Re: Fresh orange juice

Nice But shouldn't you be making it fresh every time? I mean, squeeze what you are going to drink immediately? Something to do with losing vitamins once it's pressed.

It's minimal and I think the OP is enjoying the juice for what it is, not trying 'top up' on vitamins. (Which is rubbish, by the way, unless you have some sort of deficiency)

That's 460 kcal within an hour And it jolts up your insulin level. (Not to mention this would make me get stuck to the bathroom all day )

As long as you do this 'cause you love it and not because you think it's very healthy I guess it's fine.

True. And it eats the dental enamel.

But it still tastes great. I understand why people get hooked on it. I do miss the fiber one gets eating orange with the membranes. Ňam.

I've cut down to a glass or 2 a week now as I went through bags and bags of oranges the first 2 weeks Don't want to spoil it and get fed up of it, so limiting myself now, but still really love being able to squeeze myself a glass when I'm fancying one.

Re: Fresh orange juice

well, in this sense its even worse than drinking a coke, sorry to say though. If you lose the fiber, you have 16 spoons of sugar in one go! assuming you squeeze 7-8 small oranges to make 1 liter of orange juice. It might taste good due to the orange flavour, but its surely not healthy.

Orange juice!???!!!!!1!!!

I read in a magazine that orange juice is so poisonous, gorillas won't even touch it! It contains enomous amounts of arsenic, cyanide, lead, sugar, monosaccharides, polysaccharides, chemicals, organophosphates, acid, disaccharides, unisaccharides, ruccsaccharides, prions, methane, plastic, coal, big pharma and molecules!

Additionally, orange juice has been linked to obscenity. It's a scourge!

You're better off sticking to battery acid, which is at least a natural substance.

Mother Nature knows whats good for you! Just ask the mosquito!

Orange juice was invented by Attila the Jenghis Khan to poison his enemies, who were moytls Neanderthals, Hittites, Ephesians and Stalagtites. That's why those people are extinct nowadays. To think that people drink it volunatrily these days.

Not too bothered, I get plenty of fibre in the rest of my pretty healthy diet, and I'm happy to consume that much sugar in one go a few times a week when I enjoy it.

As I said this morning, as long as you enjoy it for the sake of enjoying it and not thinking you're doing something extremely healthy. Hell, I'd try DB's Igelarschringli if he invited me and they're not even legal

Re: Fresh orange juice

Stop moaning, people. A glass of freshly squeezed orange juice is one of life's great pleasures. Blimey. You'd think the OP had revealed a rapidly growing enthusiasm for intravenous Class A drug use.
