You know what I love more than "ethnic" food?

Being taught how to make "ethnic" food by white middle class Californians.

Do you have any good recipes for faggots and grey peas or pork scratchings? I reckon if anyone knows how to make them, a white middle class Californian will.
Sound of Music, did you groan at DB on this post because maybe your superior American self took offence in the name of the food, not realizing that faggots is indeed a British dish, DB could miss (if he had meant it LOL). And after dinner, the Brits have a fag

So go easy on that groan button, eih!

The other thing is you crave for food from home and then come up with international dishes. You do realize this is an international forum? We just had a Japanese lady joining this week - she might cringe from your Japanese recipe?
So why don't you rather post your cooking results on this thread?

And there is already another lovely thread on all kind of food stuff, EE being a major (and excellent) poster. Just check out EastEnders and you will find a thread she attributed to a lot!

Not to mention the old, somewhat dubious Public school "tradition" of "fagging"...

I've got a Sudanese Peanut soup recipe from my Glaswegian MIL's time there if I can find it.

Was going to ask what a groan stalker was then my brain kicked in.

I have a recipe for old fashioned Faggots somewhere, not difficult to make, will look for it tomorrow. I also know how to make Pickled Eggs and Mushy Peas, dead easy even for a Yam Yam desperate with Homesick Cravings

What is "poke" please in this context? Looks yummy. I don't have an accent key, no off colour remarks about poking. I'm watching you at the back...

Does anyone have a recipe for a chippy tea? They're ethnic food in Leigh. That and pies from Wigan.

Can send you a recipe for pickled eggs? Never tried them though :-)

If you see what gets posted on some of the canning websites.... some seem to can/pickle anything that moves

I'd like for this thread to be for recipes and ingredient locations. Off-topic posts will be liberally groaned at.
No need for that, just report the post if you think it's inappropriate, but please be aware that you have no more 'ownership' of this thread than anyone else so it's still open to anyone to post on it as they feel fit. Joking replies are part and parcel of what makes EF great so we don't normally censor them unless they're really derailing a thread.

Eggs pickled in Cider vinegar with chili, or with ginger and beetroot. Or just plain malt vinegar and salt. Served with ground white pepper and mushy peas. You haven't lived.

NoOooh. Nasty. I had half of one once after a drunken dare in a Watford chippy went horribly awry. Horrid. Horrid. Horrid...

So, no, thank you, I politely and respectfully decline your sweet recipe offer!
