45mm (small, single serving) canning jar lids?

I have several dozen small hexagonal canning jars, taking 45mm diameter vacuum lids, that I would like to re-use.

But I cannot find replacement lids. Originally bought from Landi and Coop, but neither sell just the lids. The usual replacement lids are for larger jars.

Any sightings of 45mm replacement lids?

I love these small jars, as a collection of different flavour jams makes a nice gift.

I only use fresh lids for water bath canning. It would be a shame not to re-use the jars, though.

Many thanks.

Check for einmachgläser in Hornbach's online site. They have a large variety.

Re: 45mm (small, single serving) canning jar lids?

Not sure if it is 45 mm but check with Leifheit (online) or Landi.

I get most of my jars from Landi and the replacement lids

Edit: you say Landi doesn´t have them, I have seen them recently at Landi Neftenbach and also at Coop

Re: 45mm (small, single serving) canning jar lids?

I've checked the Einsiedeln and Wädenswil Landis, the Galgenen Hornbach, the Pfäffikon, Richterswil, and Einsiedeln Coops, the Rapperswil and Seedamm Manors - and none of these have 45mm replacement lids.

They all have sets of 45mm jars and lids, as well as 56mm and larger replacement lids - but no 45mm lids-only.

Roegner, were the lids you saw at Neftenbach the small, 45mm screw-on lids? (If they are the Holy Grail of small scale canning, I'm willing to travel...)

A quick search for Leifheit shows many retailers have larger lids - I'll keep looking for the 45mm, though - thanks for the suggestion.

I think so. I´ll probably go there next week Saturday and would be happy to look for you. How many do you need?

Probably several dozen. Since these are hard to find out my way I'd stock up.

If you happen to stop by the Neftenbach store and can check the size of the replacement lids sets I'd be very grateful if you'd let me know.

(A Landi visit is a good excuse for an excursion. Yes, I'm easily amused...)

Re: 45mm (small, single serving) canning jar lids?

How many cl doe the glasses hold?

The landi website is ridiculous: The only really important information they don't give: The size of the lids

This could be possible a 15cl glass is small, never mind the size of the picture
or this

You could either call them, give them the "Artikel-No." and demand to release the secret of the sizes or go by and have them call up those two products on the computer and find the info for you. They will also order it for you, if one fits.

Re: 45mm (small, single serving) canning jar lids?

I found these online:

https://www.dehner.de/produkte/ersat...tk-X002287373/

In case the 58mm would fit; are you looking for twistable lids or the metal and ring seal ones?

https://www.so-wird-gekocht.de/kuech...st-off-deckel/

They have 43mm, would it fit?

Hope it helps! Have you tried Globus and Migros?

How would 58mm fit on a 45mm glas?

They look like my link no. 2 ..... so there goes that one then, sorry.

If you want to go all the way to Germany (after roegner checked Landi), these people got quite a big offer. 48mm and 43mm seem to be a standard, so it might be worth remeasuring.

Re: 45mm (small, single serving) canning jar lids?

OP didn't say if both the lid and jar is 45mm. Sometimes the lid is slightly smaller or bigger than the actual glass, thus my question about the 58mm.

Sorry if it doesn't help.

The 45mm lids I am looking for are made to go with jars that hold 50, 60, and 75ml jars.

45mm is the diameter of the lid, not the diameter of the jar opening.

Your first link is likely a 56mm, usually used with 100 and 150ml jars. I know the brand. Excellsens and Quatro Stagioni are the more common canning jars using vacuum sealed screw-on lids - and as far as I have seen, do not make anything smaller than 56.

The lids I am looking for came in a big bucket of 'cute' jars. They have a farmy sort of pattern on the lid, but not quite the same as those in your second link. I'll see if I can find those next time I head to the nearest Landi.

I agree about the Landi website - great store, disastrous website. I suppose a left over from the days when every village worth it's salt had a Landi so we could all just pop round when we had a question... it was a sad day when our village Landi closed.

45 is the outside diameter of the lid. If they are using the inside that might well fit. Worth a try at least. Thanks!

Thanks, Tom - I likely need several dozen, but would be happy with any that could be found.

But please don't waste too much time on this quest - there are far better things to do in Italy than canning lid hunting!

---

Thanks for all your help, everyone.

Lesson learned: Only buy jars that also come with replacement lids!

I know this is silly, I could just recycle the glass jars and start anew. But somehow that seems to go against the whole ethos of home canning...

You can still do that. You print it out, go 'round and say "I can prove you got it, so you must know the diameter!"

This site might also be an option for you. Some of the styles only seem to have large quantities available, but most come in the 43cm size.

Re: 45mm (small, single serving) canning jar lids?

My cousin, who sells her home made preserves at her farm shop in the uk, reckons you need 43mm lids as it is the internal diameter you need to measure.

She has bought from this UK company which she recommends but I don’t know if they ship to Switzerland.
