Looking for cookies

Hey all - I am on the hunt for cookies in Zurich. I've haven't found real american baked goods anywhere in Zurich The brownies I find in coffee shops are like bricks and forget about a cookie. I want real american style cookies, and I am wondering if anyone has recommendations?

I found a couple places online - Melissa's Cookies and That Baking Girl, but haven't tried either yet. Melissa's cookies seems to be more what I am looking for. Has anyone tried them or know anywhere else?

Make your own. Nothing in the shops tastes quite the same as what you remember from home.

Should we tell OP where to get brown sugar now or wait for the question?

Re: Looking for cookies

Great answer, but where can I get brown sugar???? I have searched everywhere....

I will give them both a try, and report back. Honestly, I don't enjoy baking and am sure they are not overly difficult to make, but I want an outstanding cookie without spending the time to learn how!

Re: Looking for cookies

Ok, so I waited a long time, and then I finally put in an order with Melissa's Cookies. I put in a request on her website, and she called me back immediately.

She is just starting her business, and apparently has been baking her whole life. She was really nice to talk to, and was super willing to rush my order (I decided to bring cookies into the office for my work anniversary, something my office always does). I ended up ordering 36 cookies, mixed into equal chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and snickerdoodles. I have to say, they are some of the best I've ever had. I am a huge oatmeal raisin guy, and I loved them. I think I was most surprised by the Snickerdoodles (sugar and cinnamon), they were fluffy and incredibly tasty. The chocolate chips were also fantastic. Everyone in my office ended up loving them as well.

I would highly recommend her for parties, office gatherings, etc. I told her I would follow up on my original post with the outcome. I loved her cookies, and am sure she makes something for everyone's taste. give her a try at www.melissas-cookies.com

I was waiting for that!

Overpriced American cookies (made by an American? We can only assume, we know she left California 2010) are t-i-s?

However, supply and demand rules - glad OP found his source.

Re: Looking for cookies

Call me suspicious - but when does a request turn out to look a bit like an advert?

Sorry, should have used the tongue-in-cheek emoji.

Probably still in shock that the cheapest order you can place is CHF 36.- for a pack of 12 biccies!

For me it was post 7. Then scrolled back and figured, it could have been post one already.
Still, at least it was an informative advert for Americans.

I kind of saw that tongue-in-cheek emoji in spite of it being absent.
