How many people have the time to re-stuff their Nespresso capsules?

Why not recycle them instead? Would save you a bundle on alu foil...

It may be a method to wean people off their Nespresso addiction.
For me I use loose coffee grounds and a plunger style coffee maker

I used to make coffee with a French press but switched to Nespresso.

A few years ago, there was quite a bit of press about the risks of unfiltered coffee, although I guess that Nespresso also falls into that category.

If you favor your coffee made in those elegant French press coffeepots, it may be time to switch to a filtered method. A randomized, crossover trial comparing unfiltered coffee against other beverages like water, tea, and hot chocolate showed elevated homocysteine levels in the coffee group. Homocysteine has been shown to be a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Unfiltered coffee also contains diterpenes, cholesterol-raising substances, which are removed when coffee is filtered. Your best bet would be to cultivate a taste for tea, especially green tea, which numerous studies have shown to have heart-healthy and cancer-preventing benefits. If you choose to stick with coffee, use a filtered method.

Re: Nespresso Capsules

Ok, so I bought the wife a Nespresso Machine for her birthday yesterday as it's something she's always wanted and she is someone who is very hard to please. Finally I got her something that she liked .

I am confused though. All I want are capsules to make a good straight Espresso that you can get in a decent coffee shop / café. I received a sample of 16 diffrent nespresso capsules, none of which are called Espresso! Which one should I buy?

I got:
Ristretto, Arpeggio, Roma, Livanto, Capriccio, Volluto, Indriya, Rosabaya, Dulsao, Cosi.
The remainder are either Lungo (tall coffees) or Decaf.

I have guests coming over tomorrow night and really don't have the time or will to try all samples before in order to know which one to buy. Ristretto, I like but it is too strong for the wife. Please help!

Re: Nespresso Capsules

I very much like the Roma for straight espresso (and the Livanto).

but I'll bet they'd love to advise you at your local Nespresso boutique!

Re: Nespresso Capsules

my tip, if you are short of time and Ristretto is too strong head for the Roma variety, one of my favourites, as close as it gets to a proper italian espresso

In the long term, try all the varietiesw in the welcome pack and make up your mind on the 4-5 you really like and stick to those ones ( I picked Ristretto, Roma, Decaffeinato Internso, Fortissio Lungo and Dulsao)

Re: Nespresso Capsules

I only tend to drink coffee at home during weekends, so could not justify the cost of getting a DIY espresso machine although they look fantastic.

Seems easier with the Nespresso system. Personally like Roma for espressos and the Purple ones for Cappuccinos. Double purples and a heavy dollop of foam in a large cup with a cooked breakfast on a Sunday morning = heaven.

Re: Nespresso Capsules

There is a good comparator here:
http://www.nespresso.com/#/ch/en/cof...so/grands_crus

The intensity rating system is quite accurate. I use Ristretto 10/10 and Roma 8/10 for expresso and cafe latte. 6/10 and below are brown water to me
