Ready made pastry

Does anyone know where I can buy ready made pastry in blocks, as opposed to ready rolled? I find when I use ready the ready rolled stuff I buy here it's too thin and pliable and the filling leaks out.

Alternatively, if anyone has a link to an easy recipe for flaky or shortcrust I'd be grateful

The blocks of it are usually in the same chiller cabinet. Maybe your Migros or Coop was just out of stock?

I was very surprised to read your reply. But you're right! I'll get those kinds next time ..... now that I know about them.

They look like this, Cherub:

Sometimes the ready-rolled stuff is a bit too thin so you need the block variety to roll it to how you want it.

Re: Ready made pastry

Thanks for the links to these products. Perhaps it's because I live in a district of Basel that only has smaller branches of Migros etc and they don't stock it. The local Migros is a partner store and the COOP is a local.

I've never been to the bigger Migros about 10 mins walk from me at Birsfelden, so this'll give me an opportunity to look in there.

Or maybe you just overlooked them - like I did.

It's too much trouble to make flaky pastry from scratch. This shortcrust one is good and easy:

I got some today (was a big Migros though, did not check my little one yet".
They were all the way on the top shelf, they make you stretch for it.

Maybe I need to remember my reading glasses - I need them with my contact lenses but sometimes forget to put them in my bag! I have pairs all over my flat

Re: Ready made pastry

The Migros on Claraplatz is a MMM - so should have it.
