Re: Grocery and related home delivery during COVID-19

Was very excited to get my coop delivery yesterday (23 Mar) having carefully ordered on Mar 15 but got an email beforehand telling me certain things weren't available now (bleach, toilet roll etc) and they messed up the quantities of the fresh fruit so have to go to the shop anyway! Even if you get a delivery slot, it seems they are not very reliable.

Re: Grocery and related home delivery during COVID-19

If you are a regular Farmy customer, they just sent an email to the effect that additional slots have opened up. In my area, that means Next week, so you might want to check.

Re: Grocery and related home delivery during COVID-19

I've never used home delivery for groceries and don't see the point if you've got the time and are physically able to visit a supermarket. Why not do that and open up slots for those that are elderly, sick, housebound etc..

The current measures e.g. limiting numbers, social distancing and spraying the hands of customers are all good ones and shouldn't mean we'd be less safe than if we all ordered online.

As a very new Farmy Customer (still waiting for my first order to be delivered) I was very pleased to receive an email that they are now offering priority service now for those who are high risk and cannot go out!

Re: Grocery and related home delivery during COVID-19

As a heads up, I just received a Farmy order and they replaced many things from my original order.

I ordered a wheel of sheeps cheese and they replaced it with a cow's milk cheese which I cannot have. I ordered a ribeye and they gave me a very thin rump steak...sacrilege!

I've written to them...I understand these are tough circumstances, but this isn't acceptable. I would have rather they just gave a refund instead of a poor replacement.

On another note, the man who delivered it was very much above retirement age...I know we are all in control of our destiny, but seems unfair they allow him to work in this situation. I gave him a nice tip.

Do they not have an option on the order site where you can click on whether you will or will not accept alternatives? The HyperU click and collect site does, for sure (not that I can use it now as the border is closed). Surely in such exceptional circumstances- we all have to be a bit more 'tolerant'. Give the cheese to your neighbour.

No they didn't give an option - they had sent a general email out to customers saying this may happen, and I wrote back requesting that they kindly not do this ...seems to have been ignored.

I would agree that it would be an exceptional circumstance, but our finances have been affected by this crisis. It is over 100 CHF worth of goods...

Re: Grocery and related home delivery during COVID-19

For anyone on ZH Goldcoast between Zollikon and Herrliberg, Seerestaurant Steinburg on Seestrasse, Kusnacht, are offering a limited menu takeaway/delivery service on Fri, Sat and Sun. It's CHF 36- for a meat or fish dish and CHF 24- for vegetarian. The menu's in German, but you can copy it into Deepl.

https://www.seerestaurant-steinburg.ch/menue/take-away

They've added these notes on the menu:

delivery service:

On request, we will gladly deliver your order between Zollikon and Herrliberg
Delivery flat rate CHF 10.00 (order at least one hour in advance)

Measures:
Our employees work exclusively with latex gloves and breathing masks. The credit card equipment is disinfected after each contact with guests.

Procedure upon collection:

When ordering, you give us your license plate number and type of car. Thus we can assign your order. You stop directly in front of our entrance on Seestrasse. We hand the food into your car. Even if you pay by credit card, it is not necessary to leave the car. By this procedure we keep the contact as low as possible.

I agree with you. It would be different if we were all starving eg glad to get anything.

I ordered veggies from this link. They did say the veggies will vary depeding on what's coming in. That alright though, I know it will be veggies/fruits and seasonal.
Btw. minutes after I ordered it was sold out. Later they had it on again. So they keep track on what they offer and what they actually have stocked. Meaning, that is possible.

Very good point.

Several restaurants - of all kinds and cuisines - are now offering take away while shut down. Do check to see if your favorites are doing this - and if so, consider this option.

Small businesses like restaurants have been very hard hit by the crisis. Regularly ordering takeaway from the local restaurants you enjoy is one way to help them keep afloat, so that they are there to enjoy again when the crisis is over.

Two I like in Ausserschwyz now offering take away:

Restaurant Adler:
https://www.adler-gastro4you.ch
(My truffle fix)

Hirschen/Sasi's Curry:
https://hotel-zumhirschen.ch

This place does a Sri Lanken curry night the first Saturday of every month; while the restaurant is closed, they are doing curry take away.

So look up your favorites, see if they are doing take away - and support them during these difficult times.

They definitely should give you a partial refund. I hope they do- their stuff is expensive.

Amigos went live 20 minutes ago.

https://www.amigos.ch/de/produkte-bern/

(mind that a nationwide roll-out is scheduled over the next days)

I just got a note from Migros that it's live (at least in my area in Ausserschwyz). Already downloaded the "Bringer" app and signed up - a great idea.

If you go to the weekly markets in Oerlikon or Helvetiaplatz, you might be familiar with Toni Rossetti.

They‘re delivering within Oerlikon and Zurich City, or you can pick up from Oerlikon, and maybe somewhere in Zurich.

Here‘s a link
https://rossetti-markt.ch/

If you frequent these markets or others and have favorite vendors, check them out for an online presence.

Replacing sheeps cheese with cow, and rib eye with rump is really inexcusable. But the last 10 days have seen ridiculous demand for home food shopping. Web shop orders amount to less than 5% of my annual shop sales, but the last 9 days I've had almost 4 months worth of orders come in.

It's calmed down a bit today and I think the next week or 2 it will calm down further as people realise that the actual bricks and mortar shops are coping with demand pretty well, and some web shops, like Farmy above, are certainly not!

Yea, all of my Coop orders have been perfect. You can tell things were thrown into bags not as carefully as time went on, but the quality and accuracy were spot on. Actually, one of the pork chops we ordered from the butcher section was one of the best I've ever had.

I didn't mention it, but I also had to throw out all of the Farmy herbs I ordered as they were completely wilted and smashed, the radishes I bought were already spoiled this morning. I really can't recommend Farmy based on this experience (which I know is unusual). They haven't responded to my many emails and phone calls either.

Also available time slots in coopathome are two weeks earlier than in Le Shop and you don't have to wait one hour just to get to their website.

A friend phoned me today to say she'd ordered vegetables from a market stall/farmer who was doing local deliveries, and that she'd gone ahead and ordered some for me, too, and will drop them off at my door in a few days' time. Now that is... lovingkindness! Lucky me to have such a friend.

Re: Grocery and related home delivery during COVID-19

First Coop at Home Delivery came today but they couldn't fulfil on the bread order (which was in the email) but then I noticed the delivery was missing some cheese and chocolate (ironic?).

Immediately, I emailed the customer service to advise but haven't heard back yet.

Am curious to know of others experience with Coop at Home when there is stuff that is missing. Do they add the item to your next order?

All the best + continued health for all!

Depends where you are, I guess. In Wadenswil / Au / Horgen area the Coop website has been telling us for nearly 3 weeks now that "Unfortunately, a delivery date could not be determined for this delivery address. Please try again later." Crisis or no crisis, I find this really annoying. Why not simply extend delivery dates into the future? If they told us 3 weeks ago that it would take a month to deliver, I'd have been fed up but would have agreed -- and we'd at least be getting some food next week!

Has anyone along the Silver Coast side of the lake managed to get a delivery slot? What's the secret? Thanks.
