Stuck in isolation but running though on food

hi everyone I hope you are all well.

I have a slight issue I still have just over a week of my self isolation but im getting down to the bare minimal when it comes to food I thought I would of made it through because I planned however some fo the stuff I brought went funny and went off and had to be thrown away surprisingly.

I dont want to pay for devilry because it will be crazy expensive what are my options ?

Thank you!

1- Starve
2- Call a friend
3- Pay for delivery

I've never used the coop or migros delivery but surely between going hungry and a few CHF it can't be that bad.

Or call people you know and see would someone be willing to get a bag of shopping and drop it to your door.

Not sure what part of CH you're in, but I think some areas have assistance programs, to help people get food while in quarantine. I believe some churches are also helping with that type of thing.

You could try calling the Swiss hotline (24 hours) 058 463 00 00.

You could also try contacting the Red Cross. I believe they've been doing that kind of volunteer assistance.

Re: Stuck in isolation but running though on food

You choose to go to the UK and presumably had the cash to pay for that. So pay for delivery and don't sponge off everyone else.

Let the assistance programs help people that are stuck through no fault of their own.

Coop and Migros home delivery is very cheap - I actually didn't pay last time because they were running a special.

Re: Stuck in isolation but running though on food

You really are a bit of a disaster zone, young man.

If you really want to rely on the kindness of strangers, Facebook is your friend. Although you have nobody but yourself to blame, it is surprising how a well-worded post in a relevant group can quickly find someone happy to help out at no charge.

Mind you, since you have another while to go, I recommend that you plan your meals for however long it is you need to quarantine, write a shopping list and just get a Coop at Home or Le Shop delivery. You know, like a functioning adult would do.

Seriously, this level of hand-holding is ridiculous.

Re: Stuck in isolation but running though on food

I finished my family quarantine last week, and we placed two big orders, one at LeShop and one at Coop at home. The higher the bill the less you pay for delivery. Plus one regularly gets vouchers for free deliveries. They even have brands and products normally not found in shops, which is great. The only thing I missed was fresh bread, but I didn’t want to bother friends just for that.

hi everyone I hope you are all well.....
you have different groups with volunteers, just google something like: basel corona home help or whatever. I tried it, it looks there are different options, including a facebook group.

btw, coop delivery is expensive, but making a bigger buy for the whole period or maybe even some products for the future (like cleaning etc) and you will be ok:
  • free for orders of 500 or more
  • CHF 9.90 for an order of CHF 200 or more
  • CHF 12.90 for an order of CHF 150 or more
  • CHF 17.90 for an order of CHF 99.90 or more
I was also alone in quarantine, I finally used some old stored food, my friends brought me some fruits and vegs and we even have a "quarantine drink", me inside my apartment and they drinking their own drink on the street.

I hate positivism, but don't look for the problems, look for solutions would really work in this case, otherwise you will drown in them (problems).

Re: Stuck in isolation but running though on food

Guys seriously wtf... recommending churches and charities? Use some common sense. The OPlonker just needs to suck it up and do an online shop and pay for home delivery. End of story.

Considering this is justin, the story is likely to BS anyway, but of course some of EF always react like it's the first time they have ever seen him post.

Re: Stuck in isolation but running though on food

Have to admit, in the last couple of days I've just thought not this troll again. Anyway, according to him, he's previously claimed to be sooo poor I'm only surprised he hasn't starved to death in his slum of a tiny studio. I also don't believe he is an intern with UBS or any of his other ridiculous stories He's just playing a game and thinks he's clever because some posters on here seem to think his tall tales are genuine.

And how would anyone who is living is such impoverished and difficult circumstances suddenly have 10k to lend to a friend?

It is quite simple: Whoever it might be and now matter how stubid the question actually is, give a kind and reasonable answer from which others in the future with a similar problem could profit. Refrain from snarky comments and leave the thread for good once you submitted your answer. If you think you are being trolled just keep your poken fingers from the keybrett and add the user to your ever growing ignore list.

To positively contribute: Home delivery of raw food is not that expensive. A week costs less than a meal in a restaurant. Next to the mentioned leshop.ch and coopathome.ch, there is also farmly.ch .

In addition it is always good if you know your neighbors and are on friendly terms with them.
