| | Got a sodastream?
Are they any good, value wise, taste wise? Think about getting one for the kids.
Last time we had a sodastream I think it was in the 70's .. So what about these days? Looks like you get about 20 drinks from a bottle of concentrate? 80c per drink? How long does the gas last? What does a refill cost?
Is it just a gimmick? I see loads for sale on second hand groups.

If you like fizzy water and want to save money and plastic, then yes, they're great. What's not to like?
If you're wanting to replace sweet fizzy drinks, then it's not so clear-cut.
The concentrates are expensive and rarely, IME, give exactly the same result as buying cans or bottles. Then again, I very rarely drink 'pop' anyway, so my experience may not match that of a soda-addict.

We love it for soda water. Have had one for ages and this year bought the new gas dispenser (the cheap one still) but design and usability much better.
We have 4 bottles which we keep in the fridge so we always have cool water at hand to put the gas in.
We have 1 spare gas canister so that when it runs out we are not out of gas.
We are very happy.
On the flavour thing - we tried and hated it.

Agree with the above - for fizzy water they're environmentally better, more convenient than having to buy big bottles of water and you don't run out, and I would say about the same value since although you can get really cheap fizzy water it never seems to hold the fizz.
Even more convenient now is that sodastream do direct-to-door cylinder swap, you just leave the old one in the postbox.

It's mainly for the kids, personally i just drink loads of tap water, we have a dispenser on the fridge so it's nice and cold..
The kids like fizzy water, they also like any other fizzy pop, sirop, fruit juice but i reckon if we have a fun machine, they'll drink a lot more water.
Gas lasts about 60l of water apparently? Costs what 18.- ?

I also meant to say - agree with the others, the syrups are universally awful. But decent quality non-sodastream syrup works OK, as long as you put it in very very slowly.

We use it for fizzy water, and it's fine. But the plastic bottles do seem to lose gas fast. I wonder if it's a feature .

I love my bubbler and use it to bubble all sorts of liquids, one that you must try is to bubble a bottle of cheap Aldi plonk, red or white... nobody drinks rose, just let it stand for a few minutes or you get a wine fountain, don´t ask me how I know.

I agree that it is convenient - but not free and less environmentally friendly then just exchanging it at Migros/Coop when next shopping. https://www.ktipp.ch/artikel/artikel...-guenstigsten/

K | | | | | Thanks - Migros must have dropped their price, it was roughly the same when I did it six months ago.
Our Migros never seems to have them in stock, I used to get them at Coop City but I don't work in central Zurich any more.

I recently ran out of gas - and I wanted to buy a second canister to have a back up. I bought a migros canister from galaxus for 13 francs - which surprises me and also confuses me -as I thought that was the price to just refill...
now my challenge will be to use my non existent German to try and swap my empty canister

I ordered a new canister that was full from Galaxus: https://www.galaxus.ch/en/s2/product...?tagIds=41-510
So - I guess if you need a second spare one you can order from there!
