| | Why juices are so expensive?
I have the following curiosity about juices in general. I get a little shocked when I look at the prices of juices in general, especially Mango. I think they are a little pricey. For example, a pack of 6 bottles of 1 Liter is around 30CHF in Migros.
Do Swiss people drink juice? Do they prefer to blend fruit by themselves instead of buying prepared juice?

It will definitely be cheaper. Now transportation though....

If this doesn't connect, than try to understand their agricultural policy, which is different than policies run in USA or EU.
Imported food (one that is not also produced here) is usually not so expensive, for example, Sarasay Mango juice is 2.1 chf / 0,75l.
Anyway, fruit juice is not a drink, but it's food so it is healthier this way.

@aSwissInTheUS, thanks for the feedback.
@nejc, following your link, I now realized that there is more offer on the website than in the Migros closest to my home. Maybe I am going to the wrong Migros, and should look for a bigger Migros.
I have found this link ( https://www.englishforum.ch/food-dri...op-stores.html)

You are forgetting the water, maybe juice concentrate, and many things more. Nevertheless, I am going to check Lidl. I might get lucky.

I make my own fresh juices, it works out to be roughly 15-20% more expensive than buying it Bio but mine taste better

I prefer to squeeze my own oranges every morning ( naughty minds! ) tastes better and healthier. I also prefer to make my own smoothies and health drinks.
Soft fruit sold in supermarkets here are hopeless, not unusual to find mould on them and they have to be eaten straight away....have they never heard of keeping fruit in cool storage?
AS for use by dates...check them closely, plenty of stuff on the shelves out of date. The worst was Kurbiss soup in COOP...still for sale at the check out days out of date and all nicely bloated packaging from the fermentation. |

the traditional swiss juice is apple juice, or the seasonal most, and that sort of stuff.
If you want cheap juices you need to go to a hard discount and get imported stuff.
I'd say that in general, swiss people don't drink lots of packaged fruit juices. This is my personal anectode though.

Make your own smoothies, no added sugar and more fiber.
