| | Re: Popeyes in Zurich ? | Quote: | | | | | Burger King and Popeyes (like Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell for PepsiCo [disguised as Yum! Brands]) are more complimentary venues to each other, rather than a competitors. | | | | | They properly meant the Burger King Switzerland and Popeyes Switzerland is owned by the same company: The BKCH Holding AG http://www.bkch.ch/document?hCNHGqUN...38MglM1ReKs%3D
But not all Burger King Restaurants are operated by BKCH. For example the one at Zurich Main Station or the one at the Clipper/Lagerstrasse is operated by Candrian https://www.candrian.com/gastronomie-hotellerie/ https://www.candrian-burger-king.ch/ |

I live really close to popeye… and there was a line to order that was close to the corner of the block… insane. I have to recognize that I was on my way to order some chicken, but by no means I'll do that insane line to just order fast food!

Chipotle please? | | | | | I'd prefer real mexican fast food than the anglicized version of it. I suppose it's better than nothing though.

Nope, any rational Mexican gets a nice stable job in CH and cooks at home as a hobby. Speaking from experience
I just buy dry chiles from www.elmaiz.ch Flaschenhals in Aarau has good aged tequila. The wheat tortillas found on Turkish shops are closer to Mexican wheat tortillas than what corn tortillas sold in CH are to Mexican corn tortillas. Last year read about a new corn tortilla maker in Luzern, haven't bothered to order yet to test.
Won't tell the name but once my colleagues took me to a Mexican restaurant a few tram stops away from the Stadelhofen SBB. I regret ordering something else beyond beer. Nice terrace in the summer for beer, nothing else.

El Luchador and Konradstrasse seems to have a lot of good reviews.
El Pablo in Dietikon (If you do not need any thing fancy)
Burrito Brothers Löwenstrasse Zürich (If you are looking for the "Chipotle" style)
in the same style is Cartel Burrito at Militärstrasse
another California Style Taco Restaurant is LA Brea SoCal Tacos at Josefstrasse
and if you want to cook at home you should visit El Maiz at Josefstrasse

Hola I'm from Texas and was heavily exposed to the Mexican culture since birth and married into a Mexican family... We also cook at home - I really like this website and they have some quite good corn tortillas, but we also make our own: https://fridakahlo.ch/collections/be...radicional-1kg |

They far preferred La Taquria (either spot).
Tacos and Chile https://www.google.ch/maps/@47.3902922,8.5230245,20.89z has also got a thumbs up.
They make tacos in the Mexican store "Frida", I'd happily get them again.
As far as popeyes goes, I've now been and it appears all the sandwiches have sold out. Their chicken appears better than KFC's which is not saying much. Chips have a nice shake of seasoning on them, coleslaw is cabbage and carrots stewed in mayonnaise. Hit and miss, I'll try again in another month when they have the sandwiches back in.

I lived for a year in Kingsville, I only miss having shiner bock on tap so easy.
Originally born in south of Mexico where corn tortillas rules, but lived a long time in northern Mexico where I found I could love wheat tortillas too. So, no problem at all living with the Turkish ones Thanks for the link, I'll order once the corn ones and try them.
I remembered the nixtamal tortillas from Luzern. I guess any restaurant serving the food along them should be OK, at least they know what they're doing https://www.masamor.ch/retail-partners |

Flying Burritos? (for those who come from College Station, TX, it will ring a bell...) best one-pound Burritos ever. A whole student's generation grew...in more than one dimension - tanks to their tasty TexMex food...

But while we are on good Texan fast food - how about Whataburger? |

Went there last week and while I eat popeyes every time I'm back in the US, what they did here in Zurich is a 10x better product and... my god the design of the restaurant is just awesome

And no, I’m not obese - far from it. Balance is key.
