Good tip. But where can I find a microwave ?
No idea - I've never bought one but our current place came with an inbuilt one and I had to find a use for it.

Available in larger Migros. Look for Vollrohrzucker, or Rohrzucker if a bit less fiber content is Ok.
And also much less flavor. Vollrohrzucker usually rinse freely unlike the more sticky brown sugar.

However, if you add molasses to it you will get a pretty fine muscovado substitute.

We are talking about No. 2. Vollrohrzucker is more like No. 4 (Demerara) or even 5.

In another thread, a brown sugar variety from India called jaggery was mentioned. I just bought a packet of that from an Asian store, and the brand is the same (Subash), but it is darker:

Left to right: granulated white sugar, French cassonade, jaggery
