When i lost all hope for finding good pizza around here, found this place in Zurich - Napulé Stadelhofen. Simply amazing, I will travel for it!

I always think of it as of mother-of-all-dumplings[p'ierogi/pel'meni/varenyky/Schlutzkrapfen/etc. - whatever confession suits you], makes me giggle and prepare for an epic battle. Calzone is a nutritious bridge between many traditional cuisines and the modern Pastafarian diet.

Oh look, a squirrel! Your reasoning makes about as much sense if I were to conclude that greys scrabble more awkwardly than reds because they can’t spell

The main point with pizze is how they are baked. People who traditionally bake flatbread in ovens tend to develop a certain expertise over the generations. Certainly not restricted to Kurds or Turks, whom I mentioned mainly because they seem to run lots of take-aways/restaurants in Swiss for the Switzerlanders.

Well, ok. The knedlik idea worked for me. Though I prefer to eat than trying to pronounce Schlutz...krap...something. Even if we do not bake knedliks in the oven. Boiled carbs are healthier than baked or fried carbs, but I do think I just have to find a good calzone place, in here it tends to be a bit of a pocket with a mystery content.

Baking pizza in a wood oven is a bit like a barbecue .

The fun is as much in the doing as in the eating.

My pet theory , based on non scientific observation is that in the wood oven it’s the heat of the stone floor that bakes the pizza , not the heat of the air . And as your thermometer is probably measuring the temperature of the air , or the temperature of the door even , it doesn’t really matter what the thermometer says.

It’s all down to skill and intuition any you probably need to burn a few until you get it right .

So don’t start practicing when hungry

I've had lots of unremarkable pizza in Switzerland, nothing to write home about... except this place in Rapperswil which is somehow a cut above (not to mention amazing location) https://www.san-marco-rappi.ch/


I always order the Pizza Gondoliere. Love it, just wish it wasn't so far away.

Consistency seems to be an issue with some pizzerias. I've had both amazing and disappointing pizzas at Da Pino Caparelli here in Zug, and now I just avoid it altogether. Its probably because they have several pizza chefs and thus varying levels of skill.

Perhaps we’re missing each other’s points. I never mentioned wood but if you don’t accept that a pizza baked in an electric oven is different…anyway, it’s clear a take-away is unlikely to have a traditional wood-burning oven.
Never said flatbread equals pizza either. The idea was that people who habitually used ovens (for flatbread, Lahmacun or Pide etc.), can handle a pizza with ease. Let’s agree to disagree before this argument gets too silly.
Our main difference might be I'd rather drink even French beer than cider

Since Golosone fell victim to COVID, Miracle in Seefeld.

Still not as good as Argentino in Lugano.

And as Tom said, most pizzerias in Italy - but don't expect them to be typically loaded with ambience.

that's not what I said, I remarked that many Italian pizzerias can be a bit spit and sawdust experiences; Italian restaurants in Italy serving food that isn't pizza are usually excellent.

I don't know that I would travel especially for it, from Zug, but I heartily recommend Da Toni's in Ruschlikon. https://www.datoni.ch/

A pretty classic Italian restaurant with way above average pizzas from a wood-fired brick oven.
