Re: Restaurants without pork

Probably any restaurant with a Turkish/Arabic/Middle-East cuisine and vegetarian restaurants.
You can also search for halal or kosher restaurants.

Re: Restaurants without pork

As per k_and_e.

I was in a restaurant (ok, mountain restaurant while skiing) and the tomato soup came with or without sausage.
I asked for without, to witness them pouring the bowl of soup, fishing out the pieces of sausage, and bringing it over.

Re: Restaurants without pork

Define "near" - if you're counting Dietikon then surely Altstetten and central Zurich are similar, in which case the list is long.

90% türkisch Pizze restaurants has got pork so it is out of option. I saw only Limmat Pizza do not use any pork product

Religion. Luckily, I can safely eat pork and still end up in heaven

I know kosher covers more than just avoiding pork but these places will definitely be on the safe side?

Sure, why not? Not in an accusatory way of course, but I'm always interested in why and when someone became a veggie. It's usually an easy way of getting a conversation going with people you've not before. But you have to be careful. A very good veggie friend of mine says she's sick of people "interrogating" her on the question so it has to be handled with a light touch.

yea, I would imagine an average veggie person is being asked many times why they do what they do.

My daughter is a school-vegetarian. She requested us to register her as a vegetarian at school as the veggie lunches were generally better.

Why not -- quite understandable. We're not vegetarians but we like eating at veggie restaurants because they're often more inventive. It's as if they have to try harder. A slab of meat is all very well but the tendency is for it to be served with a big helping of potato in some form and a couple of other vegetables, added almost apologetically to the edge of the plate as an afterthought.

... but an average vegan will generally tell you, at length, why they refuse to use any animal products (except shoe leather, in some people I know - they refuse to answer my questions on shoes) and try to convince the rest of the world to do the same.
