Ethnic stores around Josefstrasse, ZH? Sorry, don't know what a curry puff is (apart from what I am inventing in my own head...)

It is ravioli like kind of asian delight which has this chicken and potato curry filling... and the crust is crispy on the outside...

curry puffs are kinda like snacks, with fillings ranging from with curried potatoes, tuna, chicken, veggies and look like this:

Re: Curry Puff

I should go look again. I've only seen samosas there. For me a real curry-puff is crispy and has layers:

Re: Curry Puff

Don't know if you will find what you're looking for exactly but at nearly all Indian take-aways in Kreis 4 (Zürich), you will find a lamb and/or chicken roll.

Basically a curry filled pastry rolled in bread crumbs and shallow fried.

Pics may be found here, called "hot rolls" on the site

Re: Curry Puff

Aggarwal, Langstrasse, pretty sure you'll find them there. You can also find a pretty decent stand up lunch bar which is very good value for money.

Re: Curry Puff

Haven't seen any, except when made to order, eg at Hot Wok. Here's a recipe: http://glutton-island.blogspot.com/2...ff-and-me.html

For the English, they look like Cornish pasties, but with spicy curry fillings, and smaller.

Some relatives of the curry puff: http://www.cornishpasties.org.uk/pasty-names.htm

Re: Curry Puff

If ever my friend and I open a takeaway, we should include curry puffs, roti jala (lacy turmeric & coconut milk flavoured pancake) and affordable vegetarian food on the menu. There seems to be a market.

During a festival in Lucerne early summer, there was a stall selling Indonesian and Malaysian food. It boasted a long, long queue compared with other stalls. Upon a closer look, I noticed they had stickered over the prices and had raised them (!).

Re: Curry Puff

my, what a helpful discussion this is. Gotta try making these at home.

I have to mention though, one of the best curry puffs in KL is in IKEA. Instead of the Fr.1 hot dogs.. you can get RM1 curry puffs.. and they are good!

A couple of years ago, the asian grocery store in Altsteten had those lovely currypuffs in Nanda's pic on Saturday mornings. Now not anymore
