They sell Sarson's malt vinegar in the larger coop stores in their international food section.
Darn I've just been there an hour ago ..... but thanks, I'll check it next time.

Re: Jacob's Cream Crackers or water biscuits?

Reviving this tread again... Any Jacobs Cream Crackers sitings recently? Or any other brand of a 'real' cream cracker?

It seems that they have disappeared from shops around my area once again.

No longer available at any of the places mentioned upthread.

The Coop website claims that they are still available in a few stores, but I've been to all those listed in the greater ZH aera, and nope, not in stock.

Googling led me to a place called BritShop, but they did not answer my mail asking if they actually had the product - never a good sign with a small online business. So not knowing anything about the store I'm not about to try ordering from them.

A few resellers on Amazon, but at horrific delivery prices and uncertain stock.

So may I ask - if you have seen Jacob's Cream Crackers in stock anywhere - as in actually on a store shelf - would you let me know?

Many thanks!

Re: Jacob's Cream Crackers or water biscuits?

Not seen any in actual shops for ages.

If Britshop has them listed on their website then they have them in stock, they are very good at keeping their stock levels up to date and are usually very responsive to emails. I’ve never had anything but good service from them.

Another option is Bite Sized who also has them in stock and offers postal delivery.

I have found several on Amazon France at decent prices with reasonable delivery costs who could deliver next week.

They have them at out local (French) Intermarché. The logistics would make it unrealistic, I'm sure, but just how desperate are you?

Re: Jacob's Cream Crackers or water biscuits?

As Belgianmum say's, if Britshop have them listed on their webshop, they'll be in stock. Jims in Gland usually have them too online and at their shop, I get a few cases from them every now and then for my shop in ZH (but out now). But Jims, like me and other food retailers, are experiencing problems importing food from the UK because of Brexit. It will sort itself out, but it's a massive learning curve for UK food wholesalers

Re: Jacob's Cream Crackers or water biscuits?

Thanks, BM, Ace, and Grumpy!

I hadn't thought to look at Amazon FR, had only checked UK and DE. Those sent by Amazon FR itself can't be delivered to CH, but I was able to order from a third party seller... in the UK. Still, only CHF 13 for delivery as opposed to the CHF 50+ I was seeing on the UK and DE sites. Expected delivery 2-6 weeks, so let's hope for the former.

Good to know BritShop is a dependable retailer. I'll give them a try as well then. And thanks for the suggestion of Jim's.

Once OH gets vaccinated (whenever that may be... 2022?) and he can travel again, I may have him scout around on one of his vinyard trips. Thanks for the tip!

They're not a generally-stocked item, it's just that there's loads of brits living in Chatel so there's a good selection of stuff in the British Aisle (half an aisle, actually) including Marmite, Roses Lime Marmalade, Cadbury chocolate, salad cream, HP, Heinz beans, etc. etc.,

The other Intermarché we use in Alsace doesn't have any such, but some of the larger stores nearer the Basel border do carry a decent range of brit stuff, so if he's going that way try the Géant or E. Leclerc in St. Louis.

Amazon.fr does ship to French Post Offices close to the border.

They ship to various Points Relais, and while I guess some of them may be Post Offices that's not generally/always the case, and I think it's better as it is - being restricted to PO opening hours would be much less useful.

I've bought them most recently from grumpygrapefruit - otherwise Coop in Letzipark often have them in the exotic foods section.

Thanks, Nick!

Funny - the Coop Filial search doesn't show Letzipark as having them... but then their info on other stores near me is off, so go figure.

Cream crackers... exotic... TIS.

I use matzos. Unfermented cream crackers perhaps?

Matzos are a good substitute for many uses but real cream crackers are the best thing I have found to help with nausea - it's partially a texture thing. No other cracker has that combination of blandness and 'heft'. (Save Bath Oliver biscuits, which are far harder to find than cream crackers.)

I use cream crackers for cheese, not nausea. Matzos are a great substitute for that.

I searched on “Jacobs Cream Crackers” and “8048 Zurich” in the store availability locator. Letzipark was the top result.

Aha - There's my problem. I'm using my PLZ in the boondocks as a start. Will try again.

So good to see there are more options than I had found on my own... thanks one and all!

Re: Jacob's Cream Crackers or water biscuits?

A happy ending!

A box full of Jacob's Cream Crackers arrived today from Britshop.

To balance my comment upthread, perhaps my original mail had gone astray because when I wrote to them a second time, they replied immediately.

Quite impressed with this shop, will order more in the future.

I am now a happy bunny.

I thought of you today when shopping in Manor here.
They currently have double packs of Jacobs cream crackers on sale in our small Manor store. It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen them there.
