First Annual Halloween Party!!

Menu:
I made: Fried Chicken, 2 loaves Focaccia, 12 baby Apple Pies, MEATFACE, cinnamon-sugar cookies, roast pumpkin dip. (also: chips, beer, booze, cheese, sausage, candy. but I didn't make that stuff.)

Behold the horror that is MEATFACE!

gross. but delicious.

Re: Post photos of what you cook and bake in Switzerland

So this is all Oldhand's work... Please, please, please, thank her for this (on the post I linked here). It was A-MAZ-ING!!! I am posting it for her because I love to photograph food. And she did this in combination for my birthday and my first-year anniversary in Switzerland. It was such a great night. There are no words for this food...

Lamb, slow cooked with stewed potatoes. Served with mashed potatoes, carrots and kholrabi and cabbage. Then, apple crumble for dessert. Even though I didn't get a picture of it, she served fresh mussels as the appetizer. SO SO SO good. Thank you Oldhand!!

Uncle GroOve signing off for dinner... some kind of Risotto al Gorgonzola di Capra, and a sautéed squash carpaccio with some balsamic vinegar (real stuff...ouch!).
Wash it down with a glass of red...let's see what's around

Buon appetito!

P.

Haha...! Nice stuff... I'll have a meatface anytime over eating those grubs like you did in Laos. THAT totally grossed me out
(it helped me to realize just *how* conservative -foodwise, that is - I really am...)

Ciao!

hahaha, well, I wouldn't say that not eating LIVE worms makes you 'conservative'. I think that just makes you 'rational'.

Re: Post photos of what you cook and bake in Switzerland

Thanks. Veggie soup was very good.

here is recipe:

chop onions, potatoes, carrots, celery (you can add other veggies like paprika peppers, corn, courgette etc).

First soften onions in olive oil with knob of butter, together with bay leaf and thyme. Once onions are transparent, add vegetables and stir well. Add chicken or vegetable stock, bring soup to boil, reduce heat and let is simmer for 15 min. After 15 min, you can add frozen veg and cook for another 10 min or so.

Whisk mustard with flour ( use more mustard if you like it hot), add some milk and whisk it again so there no lumps. While stirring soup add mustard/flour/milk mix, once mustard mixture dissolved add two more cups of milk and bring soup to a boiling point again. Check veggies are cooked and season to your taste. Serve immediately and garnish soup with some dill/flat leaf parsley.

enjoy your soup!

This is the short version but is as good as the long version!!
