Christmas cake in Zurich... where?

Anyone know where I can get good old English style Christmas fruit cake in Zurich? I did a search for it on the EF but found nothing.

I have just had mine personally delivered and baked by my mother

You can have a go and make one yourself - or try Globus or the Britshop - but i'd definitely make your own, has to be better than a bought one which will likely be dry and crumbly

now where's the wensledale to go with it - paging Grumpy

Forget Globus. Jelmoli are much nicer people and do have Xmas cake. They also have the aforementioned Wensleydale to go with it!

Cool, thanks. I thought of baking as an option but I don't trust my cooking skills to make it as good as a professional cook.

Re: Christmas cake in Zurich... where?

It's not that difficult. I can recommend Nigella Lawson's Christmas Cake Recipe. It's a good time to start now - 3 weeks gentle feeding with Orange Liqueur (Stock or Cointreau) - will make it delicious.

Re: Christmas cake in Zurich... where?

Ok, a few years later

i have baked my own (not a good idea)
gone to England and M&S specially for the cake (can't now)
Zurich Globus don't have them, neither do Jelmoli

Desperately seeking English Christmas Cake.

Guys, where is it hiding nowadays?

At my cheese shop in the Viadukt (and I have Mince Pies, Mince Meat and Clotted Cream to help it all slide down easily). Let me know if you want some reserving.

They still do a fab selection and the quality is top notch. Love the atmosphere in their food hall.
