| | Cat on the menu?
An article in the Times today says that domestic cat is eaten in amongst other places Switzerland (right at the bottom of the article). http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/lif...cle7029058.ece
Has anyone ever seen it on a menu here or been offered it?

If they're allowed to roam the mountains and are fed the milk from Swiss cows they'll be out of my budget | This user would like to thank adrianlondon for this useful post: | |

Never seen it, and never want to see it. How anyone can eat such a beautiful, intelligent animal is beyond me.

Never seen it on the menu, but I read an article about it where some families made stew out of the cats they had roaming around at their farm since they would multiply a bit too rapidly...

There was a similar discussion, a while back, can't find the thread - discussing that apparently in Switzerland it was/is sometimes eaten in some places... though I have never seen it on the menu nor heard of it...
The Italian TV cook here though has opened a whole can of worms for himself when he recommended cat to his fellow viewers/hobby cooks.

Yes, I remember once reading that Switzerland was involved in the "cat-fur trade" - I didn't even know there was such a thing!

Id'd try cat if I thought there would be any meat on them.

Can you imagine the uproar in the UK? Especially when one of the 'Related Links' on that page is titled 'ITV fined for butchery of I'm a Celebrity rat'
ha!

Not sure I'd eat cat.
I mean. It's so hard to pick the right wine.

I love your cat. It's like one of the dogs in 'The Story of Edgar Sawtelle'.
Those eyes!
As for the topic, nope, never seen it on a menu and do not wish to. Even though I'm primarily a dog person.
