Dear Texaner,
Read a book. The color of a solution (ie. absinthe) is not related to the presence of precipitation. A dye can be soluble in a number solvents. Maybe you should only post statements that you know to be true.

Most strong aniseed flavoured liquors go cloudy with the addition of water.

If you are interested in good quality absinthe, you really need to come and visit the Val-de-Travers, where it was born and where there are so many good quality distillers. Come to visit La Maison de l'Absinthe, in Môtiers- the old Court House where illegal distillers were judged and sentenced- and now a Museum all about this great drink. There is so much 'crapsinthe' about- make sure you drink and buy quality stuff. About 90 different absinthes are sold at the Museum and there is a great webstore too. Happy to meet anyone really interested in good quality absinthe, give you a private guided visit for free, and take you to some of the best distilleries.

I have never drunk absinthe, but am fascinated by the art déco posters for the fée verte. Rather than select one let me link you to a image search for the green lady.
OK, here is one for the cat plus absinthe lovers amongst you: | The following 2 users would like to thank RetiredInNH for this useful post: | |

I tried some once, didn't make my heart grow fonder at all, waste of money.

When I previously drunk it, it gave me digestive problems - every time I broke wind, instead of the normal 'raspberry' noise, it sounded like a Japanese motorbike.
I even had to go to the doctors ....... he just shook his head and laughed:
- "It's obvious", he said ...... "absinthe makes the fart go Honda". | | | | | Champagne and Absinthe day |

Great poster Retired ... the Maison de l'Absinthe has a great collection, and many of the distillers here in Val-de-Travers sell copies.
One of the best books on Absinthe Antiques is by my friend Scott MacDonald, in English of course, with French translation. Scott lives in Long Island New York and is a guitar maker, but has developped a passion for absinthe and all the paraphenalia that goes with it- spoons, troubleurs, carafes, glasses and fountains, etc.
Higly recommended: ISBN10: 0-7414-9843
ISBN13: 978-0-7414-9843-4
Sadly there is a lot of 'crapsinthe' around- made with all sorts or rubbish and colourings and drank neat of even worse with burnt sugar!! dreadful stuff.

For the real thing, you really have to visit Val-de-Travers, truly- the cradle of absinthe, where it was born, banned and re-born. It is not too far from Basel- and so much to see in the area too (like a walk at Le Creux-du-Van- the really impressive and wild limestone circle).
