Beers of the world has this and most of the others above

You can get Youngs bitter in Coop, and Wells Bombadier (the one with the St Georges Cross) in Manor latter for CHF3.5 which is amazing really

Anyone know where to find Rodenbach? My husband misses it so.

Re: Favourite Beers & Where to Find them

Has anyone seen a delivery service, or even something like a beer of the month club? As much as I love ogling over Belgian labels in the shops, there's only so much my arms can carry home.

Re: Favourite Beers & Where to Find them

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I miss me some Blue Moon (by Coors, not the soccer team, you weirdos).

And it's NOWHERE, outside of the UK, apparently, where they sell it for an astronomical 60CHF a case and don't ship it to CH. Heartbreaking.

Also, has anyone come across Caracole?
This was my favorite from a thirsty weekend in Brussels.

Re: Favourite Beers & Where to Find them

I stumbled across this place the other day, based in Liebefeld near Bern:

https://www.erzbierschof.ch/audienz/erzbiershop.html

Never ordered from there, but they have some really interesting beers. No Blue Moon though

There's also Beer Planet on Badenerstrasse in Zurich:

http://www.thebeerplanet.ch/Bier_und_mehr/Wo.html

They've got Rodenbach on their stocklist (but that's from 2008...)
This user would like to thank for this useful post:

Awesome! They actually carry a beer from Left Hand brewing company (the porter)... now I just have to convince them they need to stock the milk stout.

Hmmm... my current wish list:
Three Floyd's Alpha King Ale

Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA

Left Hand Brewing Company Milk Stout

Re: Favourite Beers & Where to Find them

I'm more of a 90-minute fan, but a Lagunitas Cooper Ale and maybe some sun would make me very happy today.

Re: Favourite Beers & Where to Find them

I'm feeling a little homesick... Does anyone know where I can find a cooper's green (Aussie beer)?
I know it's not the most amazing beer on the planet, but I don't expect to find decent Au microbrews here and all I've managed to find is VB (seriously, they export that crap?). If anyone can prove me wrong, Mountain Goat steam ale or Firefly would be brilliant...

Easy jump on the boat, the Getrank store in Meilen ( http://tel.search.ch/meilen/rainstrasse-4/urs-rauch ) usually has it, used to be 2.50 but now 3.00 (4.00 in Zurich Barnhof ). They have had some trouble with the supplier of late so I have been ordering by the boxful. Also have Sparkling ale about the same price, drop off a sixpack on the wayhome for finders fee!!

Re: Favourite Beers & Where to Find them

I just discovered a beer shoppers haven in the lower level of the Zurich Hauptbahnhof (that's the train station, for the strickly English speakers). They have a pretty amazing variety of international beers (and some wines and liquors) and some of these beers are even in a cold case, perfect for picking up en route to a party or to start buzzing on the train home from work.

I can't remember the name of the place, but if you go down to shop city two levels below the main hall and follow your nose, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the selection.

Thanks RTN, I'll get hunting. You don't know about any of the microbrews perchance?

Re: Favourite Beers & Where to Find them

No I don't even recognise the names from home. But there are a few microbrews (relativly speaking) here well worth searching out. Pauls, ambross, geldkustenbrau, turbine brau, to name a few. The local stuff is either your taste or not, I drink abit of Lowenbrau (blue cans) I used to pay AUD12 a pint for it in Adelaide and now a chuff a can - bargain

Re: Favourite Beers & Where to Find them

No doubt the selection here is far superior to back home (and cheaper), it's just sometimes you need a taste of home. I've noticed a few people mention little creatures, so I might see if I can track that down too.

I've grown quite partial to Franziskaner weissbier. In Aus it was about $6 a bottle. Here, I can get it in a delicious tube for less than half that.

Slightly related: does anyone know if there's a homebrewing culture here? I've seen some amazing setups before, but nobody seems to have mentioned it...

Re: Favourite Beers & Where to Find them

If you ever get a chance to go to Australia, here are amongst the best. They may not be distributed in all liquor stores but if you search you shall find:

BTW: If anyone knows whether they export them to europe, let me know

cheers

Re: Favourite Beers & Where to Find them

Take the S2/S8 to Zurich. Leave the train at Wiedikon. Take tram 9 or 14 into the city, just 2 stops. Cross the garden behind the electronics store, go to the left at Badenerstrasse. Enter the store at nr 74 (2 min walk), called the Beerplanet. Purchase beer.
