ZüritippGastro on Twitter

They hardly tweet at all for ages and then come out with this:

Quote:

nicht übel und überraschend scharf: der x-tra long chili cheese von burger king. triple beef. 8.50.-. mag
Not sure I can trust them now . . .

Yeah . . . but this is official Twitter feed from Zueritipp Gastro!

http://www.zueritipp.ch/gastro/

WTF?

(Obviously I'm decrying the recommendation, but will have to check it out at some point)

Any Swiss food site with 'anything' cooked Corden-Bleu on the home page can surely not be taken seriously

What do you mean?

Cordon bleu is a dish here (schnitzel filled with cheese and ham) not a cooking technique.

Also, it is possible to cook cordon bleu in a serious way (e.g. it's on the menu at the Kronenhalle).

Anyway, I even take burgers seriously.

Zueritipp is listings and reviews, for music, clubs, theatre, films and restaurants. Closest thing to Time Out in Zürich.

The thing about Twitter is that it's only a platform and you only follow who you choose to follow. For London I have a good set of friends, foodies, journalists and chefs who provide me with an up to the minute conversation about that city's food scene.

The question for me is if @ZueritippGastro is going to recommend BK, where does that leave their other recommendations?

Yes, I know what it is. However it seems to be on the menu of almost every restaurant here (outside of major conurbations) and seems linked to the 70s.

Swiss cuisine doesn't seem to have moved on from this.

Yeah, one of my regular complaints is the identikit menus of most restaurants here . . . hausgemacht ravioli, beefsteak tartar, schnitzel, cordon bleu.

Having said that though, there's nothing wrong with any of that food as long as it's cooked with care. If that's what the city if offering, there's nothing wrong with a listings website telling you where to get the best of it.

@ZueritippGastro is on a (very slow) roll:

I'm still guessing that this is being written by an intern.
