Re: The Great Big Juicing Thread...

Can I ask why you see upright as opposed to sausagemaker-style as better? Smoother function, perhaps?

Space on the kitchen top, and just more practical. I have had both.

Conforama in Spreitenbach are selling Solis Digital Juicer type 849 for 99frs, original price 250frs. Not a bad juicer for the price.

Re: The Great Big Juicing Thread...

I finally got a Juicepresso from Galaxus - 189 from 399. It works quite well....it's also a good way to spend half an hour with my kid

Re: The Great Big Juicing Thread...

Has anyone seen fresh juices (I mean a vegetable combo ones) for sale in stores in CH, or a juice bar in ZRH? Seems like there is a gap on the market.
Also, I can not find any kale in the supermarkets - any advise?
I miss my kale juice...

It's not Kale season yet?

I presume you want fresh vegetable juice and not something that's been in storage for the past year?

Fresh juice at the moment would include apple and pear juice.

Re: The Great Big Juicing Thread...

OK, my review:

The Turmix Juicepresso slow juicer is a nice, neat machine that's got a reasonable footprint and is not too noisy:

It's very easy to set up and very easy to clean and it performs very nicely. You don't have too much prep before you're ready to put your contents into the machine and enjoy the end product.

I find I enjoy a nice virgin Bloody Mary to start the day. Vodka's not too great so early!! Italian tomatoes are not far away and are far better than Swiss produce - and cheaper too. I've loaded my store with pears, apples, Kiwi fruit, carrots, tomatoes and I am going to try some fennel shortly. I wonder how that will come out...!! Also peppers are nice, I did a courgette, pepper, tomato and some spicy peppers the other day and that was yummy.

Another thing to have available is ginger. You can add this to many creations and it's usually really nice.

The only mistake I've had is putting banana through it - it's not worth it. And doing 3 bananas, two apples and a pear in the evening is the highway to a sleepless night, believe me!!! Ahh my stomach!

It's a great "toy" and my kid likes to do lots of loading. And I'm happy to have got the machine from Galaxus at less than half price.

I like it Thanks to Richdog for the steering comments

Re: The Great Big Juicing Thread...

Sean,

You should try dropping a couple of beetroots in, they are full of healthy nitrates. My favourite juice recipe is carrot, beetroot, orange, apple ginger.

It comes out sweet and is a great way to sneak the healthy stuff in the kids drink!

Cheers!

Soungs great man and imo you bought exactly the right model. DOn't be afraid to try grapes too... imo red grapes are an absolutely delicious fruit to juice. many berries (not the soft and mushy types) are also good. Enjoy.

Re: The Great Big Juicing Thread...

Some cool recipies here: https://juicerecipes.com/
Usueful page for the begginers, at the later stage I prefered to experiment on my own. Whats cool about this webpage is the "Ingredients" - you can mark up whatever one have available, and is shows what juice can be made out of it.

Re: The Great Big Juicing Thread...

I have to make an extra shopping trip per week to get all the good ingredients as they are hard to find. You can get Kale at the Rive market now, and suprisingly beetroots are hard to find in their natrual state, normally they have been pickled. Coop has the best organic section I've found...

I'm getting a new Tribest juicer soon, after using an Omega for a while, so will be good to see how that works!

Are you by any chance from the official Swissjuicers.ch website? That sells Tribest juicers? Yeah, thought so...

Re: The Great Big Juicing Thread...

It's in Geneva, a bit out of the way for you it would seem...

Is it easy to get the likes of wheatgrass / kale etc where you are?

Re: The Great Big Juicing Thread...

Celery pfft. How about CBD rich cannabis leaves. It goes great with pineapple and just about every thing else. Actually I am not juicing the leaves and stems as I only have one plant so to make the best use of limited supplies I make it into a smoothie. I have noticed a improvement in my nervous system since adding cannabis to my daily smoothies. It also doesn't hurt that cannabis kills certain cancer cells, according to the U.S government.

Re: The Great Big Juicing Thread...

Has anyone tried either of these companies. I'm not trying to be lazy. I had a juicer in Toronto, but I'm a "Wochenaufenthalter" and that makes life and even health difficult.

What is to stop you having a juicer where you live during the week?
