Re: Crumpets? I am sure you will have to make your own, unless you can wait for a special delivery. The recipe looks easy to me, http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/c...-crumpets.html |

Any chance that the British Cheese Center would extend its wonderful profile of cheeses, chutneys and crackers with the humble crumpet?:D ...have a another "C" in the repertoire...lol ...munching on some vegemite muffins for the meantime. |
Re: Crumpets? Coop has just started selling a product called Toastbrötchen made by the German company Harry-Brot GmbH. They are similar to what we have in the States called English Muffins which are based on crumpets. http://www.harry-brot.de:9080/harry/...oe_neu_web.jpg |

Re: Crumpets? Crumpets. A memory of childhood that I can't stand as an adult. Enid Blyton did a hell of a lot for crumpet sales. |
Re: Crumpets? Excuse me in advance for this (probably:msnblush:) stupid question. I'm Dutch, so I never heard of it: what is a crumpet? I know muffins, bagels, but crumpets:confused:... I mean: when people make so much effort to find them, they must be yummie? I wanna know! |

This results in a firmer base with a pourus top able to be filled with a seemingly bottomless supply of butter and your condiment of choice (Honey, Jam, or more Aussie - Vegemite). ......spose you want to know what a Pikelet is now? http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/5757/pikelets |
Re: Crumpets? Hi, Try searching at Migros or CoOp for "blinis". You'll find them in the meat/fish fridge close to horseradish etc. They are not exactly what I'd call crumpets but when toasted and covered in salty butter, mmmm! Cheers Piv |

Yes - they are extremely yummy, unfortunately v. bad for the waistline, so only bought as a special treat when we visit the UK. Can recommend the toast brötchen from Coop, we are all addicted to those now!! :msncrazy: |

Re: Crumpets? Quote:
Crumpets are crunchy because you 'toast' them after they are made. Pikelets- just pour the mix onto a hot buttered pan, flip, serve with cream and jammmmmmmmmm......... ahhhhh !!! (I'm fatter for just thinking about that). When a pikelet is first poured into the pan, it bubbles up and looks like a crumpet. |
Re: Crumpets? So basically: a crumpet is a toasted pikelet... :msnnerd: |
