| So did u find out what is better for Indian cooking? We are in a similar situation. Wanted to know if all my cooking pans and kadhais will be useful or need to buy induction compatible stuff | |

Gas is very rare at the low end of the rental market.
Induction is fairly new, so you won't find many at the low end of the rental market.
Really old stoves will have hot plates, more modern glass top.
If you want to bring your stuff, and it isn't induction, then you'll have to either make sure that the place you rent doesn't have an induction stove, or possibly buy a gas grill with a cooking ring, or a table top single (or double) burner electric. (That's how I do cheese fondue, as my stove is induction).
