Hi, I am moving to switzerland (Geneva/Lausanne).
Wanted to ask about cooking in this part of the world. Do we have electric stoves popular here or gas connections in households ? how popular is microwave for cooking ?
I am looking to cook my own food and i come from india. Here i mainly cook using a gas stove and microwave.

So did u find out what is better for Indian cooking? We are in a similar situation. Wanted to know if all my cooking pans and kadhais will be useful or need to buy induction compatible stuff

Almost every household has a microwave tho mainly to heat up something or defrost the meat, not really for the cooking itself, and large majority of the cooking is electric. If you move into an urban area electric cooking is the default.

Every household is required to have a Rachlet grill here in Switzerland!

Microwaves are not needed because every roof comes with it's own antenna preinstalled!

Gas is very rare at the low end of the rental market.

Induction is fairly new, so you won't find many at the low end of the rental market.

Really old stoves will have hot plates, more modern glass top.

If you want to bring your stuff, and it isn't induction, then you'll have to either make sure that the place you rent doesn't have an induction stove, or possibly buy a gas grill with a cooking ring, or a table top single (or double) burner electric. (That's how I do cheese fondue, as my stove is induction).

Gas is the norm in some areas around here, but mostly it's electric.
