The coop Bio range is brewed by Falken, so would assume the current prix guarantie is as well. The old coop Helvetia prix guarantie bier was brewed by Schützengarten. That said the Coop Tell beers and the old 55rappen beer is/was brewed by Calanda-Haldengut aka Heineken Switzerland and the "Cheap buy 24 cans" Anker Bier is brewed at Carlsberg's Cardinal brewery
Just be grateful that is not brewed by Ramseier Suisse (formerly Unidrink Getränke / Lupo) who seem to make most of the really cheap lagers for sale in swiss shops.

There's a Feldschlossen alcohol frei. It's OK. I preferred the Clausthaller (think that was its name). They both were in the CooP the last I looked. They also do a alcohol frei organic but it was disgusting.

Alcohol free beer, why oh why oh why. Still not as silly as alcohol free wine. Anyway, back on subject, and to each their own...
What are the recommended 'cheap' beers? Most of the time, if no promo on Heineken or Feldschlossen I go for Loewenbraeu as it's generally 1 CHF a can from either Denner or Coop, and it goes down quite well. Also reminds me of my University days (well what I can still remember of them).
So 'coop prix guarantie beer' is worth a go?

Are the prix garantie beers crewed according the DE brewing laws? Always found that hangovers were not as bad in Germany as in the UK.
Otherwise I can drink most crappy lagers as long as they're cold enough
Think I'll give the prix garantie beers a go next week, cheers | The following 2 users would like to thank c123 for this useful post: | |

| | | | | So Anker (aka wAnker) is a Carlsberg in disguise?
One of my favourites and 24 for 12 stutz on sale in Coop is a great deal.
That is only 1 chf per liter.

Some days ago I noticed they also have Prix Garantie Weissbier.
It's rather good, actually I prefer it to the Lager.
It's a bit more expensive, though, 80 cents I think...

Oops, must remember to properly read the entire thread, didn't notice somebody else already had mentioned the Weiss version...
Although not noticing this in a beer-drinking thread might not be that out-of-line! |

Can't remember the name now, but the tin logo is in green, and it's only 50c with or without. Well worth an shot, and German to boot.

Comparing it with "green" Heineken which costs four times as much is very interesting, as Prix Garantie is a lot tastier, bot completely watery, with actually noticeable flowery hop character. Shows you the price you have to pay for all the lovely Heineken marketing around an inferior product...
But beware, just recently, Coop have launched another Prix Garantie pale lager in packs of twenty small bottles. This one is brewed in France, contains additives, and my take on it is that it could be Meteor blonde in a diferent package... and it is a lot worse than the canned Prix Garantie.
