Why a groan with no comment? Seems just as legitimate a request as asking where you can buy lemongrass in Zurich....
To the OP: think online will be your best bet. Vegemite's fairly specialised. And welcome to Switzerland |

I don't know about Geneva but I saw some in Orell Fussli in Zurich at one stage! Do you have an English one there? Maybe check. Good luck |

It may be worth trying the American Market in Geneva - i seem to remember they stock a range of yummies from other nations (such as English Cheerios!) - may be worth a call? www.americanmarket.ch |

Welcome to the forum Jen. Sorry, I haven't noticed any Vegemite here. I guess you have already checked Globus and Manor? I see that MyExpatShop sell it http://www.myexpatshop.com/storech/catalog.php and they have a connection with a shop in town. Maybe you could order it and pick it up there?

I saw some the other day in one of the French supermarkets just over the border - I think it was in Segny.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. For anyone else seeking out this "black gold" I actually managed to find some today at Jim's British Market in St Genis-Pouilly just across the border. Not a british product but obviously there is enough demand to make an exception..... good news for me!

I am not even a big fan (shame on me down here!) but do always have a little jar in the cupboard. Good to know I can maintain that habit in Switzerland! (It's a great pick-me-up after a night of a few too many vinos; Vegemite on toast and a big glass of Milo!!)
So having just read the thread about 'EFers being w***kers' and all the great responses I have to wonder what the OP's whinge really was all about. EF has been a brilliant source of information, discussion and amusement all the time I have been hanging about here. And it even has info about Vegemite....... |

I get Marmite in Globus in GE, something tells me they might carry Vegemite, too?

MusicChick, I checked this week when I was in but it was Marmite only - at least this week!
And speaking of how good this forum is I should say thank you, because it was a post of yours on an old thread that I found out about the lovely knitting shop here in Carouge!
I can't understand the groan the OP got for this. You only have to look at places like NY and London and all the wonderful little shops, restaurants, delicatessons and stalls they have that wouldn't be there if people didn't crave food from home. What would the UK be like without it's curry houses or chinese restuarants? It's just normal to want that - doesn't mean you haven't integreted into your adopted country. Likewise, when I've lived in other countries there are foods I search out when I move away.

I could theoretically bring you some from home since I should be there early April. Are you sure you want Vegemite?
Marmite is sooooo good... |

Thanks for such a nice offer MusicChick! I love this forum.
But I think I am now sorted with my stash coming with the removalist, and my supply at Jim's assured for now. |

I think I've seen it in the big Carrefour in Ferney. Look in the foreign foods section under England. All sorts of "English language" foods there. I even found a little jar of Hellmans Mayo. |

| | Australian food - Vegemite! Anywhere offline?
I'm aware of aussieshop.ch - I did email them and didn't hear back so I'm looking for somewhere offline that would sell Vegemite/Tim Tams. Surely there must be a place in Geneva!

Your location states SYD Australia ... maybe you should change that?
Have you tried the food section at Globus? I think that I've seen it there.

Hi there,
You can get it at Orell Füssli on the bahnhofstrasse in Zurich. Thats the English bookshop. I bought it there, the small jar cost me 8 CHF. There is also an Australian shop in Rapperswil, they sell it there to but dont know the name of that place. Its in the old town
Cheers
Gingi

Your location says Lausanne. Are you in Lausanne or Geneva? Either Globus should have it, regardless, right next to the Marmite. |

I'm now in Lausanne, yes. Wasn't sure whether they'd have it here or in a more "international" location such as Geneve.
Will check out Globus today!
Thanks for all your advice!

Completely random, but they have everything from prawn cocktail Walkers to Tiptree marmalade. However, the Vegemite caught my eye as I know it's been discussed!
