Yes.
You can find it in any Tankstelle or also in Migros.
I have not checked in coop but they should have it too.

Definitely easy to find at Coop and Migro..... and most places.

It's one of the few things that you can be found easily here.

If it's for your Grandma, then the stuff you guy in the Migros / Coop is not going to help her any. What you are looking for is the Muttersaft Preiselbeere and you will get that for lots of money at the pharmacy. The other stuff is full of sugar and is really just a watery drink. The pure juices are difficult to find. Maybe others have found the pure juices in the Coop/Migros. Try to find one with very little added sugar. Hope your Granny gets well soon!! :(

Biotta and Ocean spray cranberry juices are available at Coop. Both tasty, although the Biotta brand is more expensive (and not necessarily higher in cranberry content - I'd compare the two if you are using the juice for therapeutic purposes).

Bottoms up! :)

Re: cranberry juice

the pharmacy can also give supplement for the cranberry that is in tablet form, they say that is much better to solve the uti than the juice, sugar in many brands of the juice can actually make the uti worse

Yes, if it is for a uti go to the pharmacy. They have the right type without sugar or the granulate that you mix yourself with water.

Or by the fresh ones and make your own - they are in season now.

thanks for the suggestions! I would have never thought to go to the pharmacy.

Everytime I had a urinary-tract infection my grandma always gave me vodka/cranberry juice. In retrospect, I'd go the doctor/pharmacy route to cure my ills....

For the very first time ever, this year I tried to get rid of this complaint without anti-biotics. I managed, but took longer than had I taken drugs.
A few tips I can vouch for though:

Forget drinking cold water, always drink warm watered down tea, warm drinks is the way to do. Stay off the suggary stuff. Sweets, juices, suggary drinks.

Stay warm.

I did it, it took about 2 weeks, although I made the mistake of the bottle of coldish water and realised within 2 hours that that was a BIG mistake.

A lot of doctors only believe in anti-biotics, and from what I have been told from the medics, if it has gone to the kidneys, then there is no way around that, unfortunately.

Good luck with it though :)

Forget cranberry juice - my doctor urged me to try a pint of water every few hours with a good teaspoonful of bicarbonate of soda dissolved in it ("Natron" in German - available in Migros or Coop with the cake baking products).

It kicks cystitis into touch within a day or so.

Tastes feckin' horrible so perhaps cranberry juice is for the less squeamish but if you want to get rid of stinging pee quick style - go for the bicarb solution.

Re: cranberry juice

The effectiveness of cranberry juice has to do (or so they say) with the strong acidity of the cranberries. When strong acidity passes through your bladder and urinary tract, it's supposed to make it very difficult for the bacteria to adhere to the walls, and you flush it out. Cranberry extract in capsules work well too.

I've had good luck with lemon juice in water... but only when I thought a uti might be starting. And certainly if you have any back, or flank pain (above your waist, sides of back) or fever, you really do need to see a doctor and some antibiotics. If you drink a lot of water regularly, it also helps.

They also have it in Landi--I got a pack of 4 ("Farmer" brand) for about 8 Sfrs.

Resurrecting this thread, as I've recently sampled all the brands from the local stores to find which one I liked best. I have no idea if this will help anyone in the future, but here you go. Some of these are called juice, some nectar, and some cocktail. It's all the same to me ;) In order of preference:

Brand - Store - Approx cost - my thoughts

Farmer - Landi - 1.48 per liter.
Sold as a 4-pack. Nice tart taste, sweet enough without being too sweet, and the best value for taste, imo

Solevita - Lidl - 1.85 per liter.
Similar taste to Farmer, just more expensive (and the store is further from me than Landi)

Ocean Spray - Coop/Migros/Denner - 2.95 per liter.
This is the juice of my childhood and I'm still fond of it, but it's loaded with sugar (thus calories) and costs nearly double that of the Farmer brand. The lower-sugar brand tastes terrible as they use artificial sweetener instead of less regular sugar. Hmm, now I am thinking back to fresh cranberry juice in Wisconsin!

Michel - Coop/Migros - 2.95 per liter.
Nice, tart taste but still a bit much on sugar and hard to justify the price when compared to the first few mentioned

Happy Fruits - Aldi - 1.85 per liter.
Available in low cal or regular, just a difference in sugar amount. I found this one to be too watery.

I've not tried Biotta yet. To be fair, virtually all of these are less than 50% juice so you're mostly getting water and sugar. I like cranberry juice just for the taste even if I'm not fighting a UTI, and so I'll continue getting the Farmer brand. :)
